La Brea's final season premiere, "Sierra," faces the fallout of the season two finale, including Eve's mysterious disappearance, Scott's curiosities about how a job interview he was on the way to could have been a part of a bigger picture concerning the sinkholes, and Lucas and Veronica preparing for a baby.

Most of the episode skips the immediate aftermath of the finale, as "Sierra" explains it has been two days since Eve's disappearance and Levi's betrayal. However, since mostly everyone is trapped working together trying to either make 10,000 B.C. their home while others strive for a way out, the season 3 premiere is busy trying to catch everyone up with the characters.

Granted, not everything about their return at the beginning of season three quite makes sense, such as how Josh's haircut looks far too nice to have been done in 10,000 B.C., surrounded by wilderness. La Brea tries to use a stand-in for Eve in flashbacks that avoid showing her face or never letting her speak, but choosing to only show her from the back while preventing her from truly interacting with anyone only makes it more awkward.

La Brea's third season is being directly affected as certain actors, including Jack Martin, who portrays Josh, and Veronica St. Clair, who plays Riley, are no longer series regulars. Riley and Josh's quick departure into an unknown time and place is a fast and easy way to remove them from the picture, even though it does not make sense why Sam would not have jumped at the chance to go with them.

Therefore, heading into its final season, La Brea is missing three of its key players in a season that was confirmed to only be six episodes long. While the rest of the main cast of characters have certainly shown they are capable of holding onto the heart of the show, the final season needs to go out with a bang and allow characters who may not have many relationships with others to truly step up into the spotlight like they never have before.

Ty may have one of the most exciting cliffhangers of them all, as he is sent through time as well, only to arrive a few weeks before the sinkhole that swallowed Los Angeles arrived. Does he have the chance to prevent it from ever happening? How will he take advantage of his relationships with Gavin and Sam in a point in time before he had officially met them?

With only five episodes left in the series, La Brea needs to start wrapping everything up as it heads into its final installments, making final decisions about everyone's fates.
