Kite Man: Hell Yeah! gives us a romance to root for
When Kite Man was introduced on the Harley Quinn animated series, he felt like the butt of the joke. We all knew that Harley and Ivy were going to end up together so why even bring Kite Man into the fold?
Thankfully, DC decided to go down a different path with Kite Man and give him his own show. In Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, we're following Kite Man and his new girlfriend, Golden Glider. The two decide to buy their local hang-out: Noonan's and from there, the shenanigans really ensue.
At first, Kite Man does seem a little bit eccentric but as the series goes on, we truly come to know and love his character. The other thing you'll love? The romance between Kite Man and Golden Glider as it honestly feels like these two are meant to be.
In 10 short episodes, we were able to watch Chuck and Lisa weather so much and yet come out stronger in the end. While the series isn't marketed as a romance, Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is a great one for romance lovers.
Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is a surprisingly romantic series.
When thinking of DC Comics, most of us don't think about romances. Even so, the romance between Kite Man and Golden Glider quickly flew its way into my heart. In watching their relationship play out, it's clear that Kite Man and Poison Ivy were never meant to be. Golden Glider and Kite Man are truly meant to be.
Even if the two have disagreements, they're able to work things out. One of the major points of contention early in the series is whether they should hire Malice or not. Kite Man is all for it while Golden Glider is against it. Eventually once she's able to think about it and help Malice out, she realizes that maybe hiring Malice isn't a bad idea and their tiff becomes a product of the past.
Another conflict that felt incredibly unrealistic for supervillains was deciding when to move in with each other. Upon finding Glider's list of relationship milestones, Chuck realizes they're behind and tries to rush things. Of course, Lisa isn't as thrilled about the entire prospect but the two end up working things out. As you can see, the writers did an amazing job of putting these two unrealistic characters into realistic situations, making them even more relatable and likable at the same time.
When looking at all the moments from the series, it feels like the finale of season 1 is the best as Kite Man and Golden Glider are put to the ultimate test. Even though things seem bleak, it ends up working out in a way that only Kite Man: Hell Yeah! could pull off. If anything, it makes me even more hopeful that we'll get season 2 of Kite Man: Hell Yeah! and can see these two hit even more milestones.
Ultimately, the relationship between Kite Man and Golden Glider is just so adorable. Whether it's their pet names, how easily they work together, or just how excited they are to be together, you'll end up rooting for them before episode 1 even ends. While the show isn't solely focused on their romance, it's interwoven so perfectly with the storyline that you'll love them in no time.
Season 1 of Kite Man: Hell Yeah! is currently streaming on Max.
