When certain authors’ books come into my inbox, I’ll always say yes and Katee Robert is one of those. This time, we’re talking about Blood on the Tide.

While Robert is most known for her Dark Olympus series, she also started a series with Berkley which is Crimson Sails. The first book was Hunt on Dark Waters which followed Evelyn and Bowen.

If you’ve read the first book, you remember Lizzie and how she ended up in Threshold. That’s why I was so excited to finally have Blood on the Tide in my hands as there’s just so much to unpack when it comes to her character and her having a romance.

I’d like to thank Berkley for sending me an early copy of Blood on the Tide as I’ve been eagerly awaiting to start it for months and I can finally talk about it now.

Blood on the Tide is a satisfyingly sharp sapphic romance.

As I mentioned, I am a Katee Robert fan. I’ve been reading their books for years and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. After enjoying Hunt on Dark Waters, I had to pick up the sequel which is Blood on the Tide.

While you can read most of their books out of order, this series should be read in order. We get introduced to Lizzie in the first book and you need that backstory. As a bloodline vampire, Lizzie is just trying to get her family heirlooms back and not become part of the rebellion. It all comes to a head when she meets Maeve, a selkie who has recently lost her skin and wants to get it back.

Lizzie decides to team up with Maeve so the two are able to get what they want. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement and we’re not just talking on the ship. It’s clear the attraction between these two is sizzling and you can’t help but wait for them to finally give in. Given that Lizzie’s bite is practically orgasmic and she needs to feed on Maeve, it’s only a matter of time.

These two go through their share of ups and downs especially when trying to figure out their feelings. While it can feel tortuous at times, Katee Robert makes the waiting all worth it. If you’ve read their books, they can write a great spicy scene and the same remains true in this swashbuckling tale.

In addition, Robert set things up deliciously by giving us such an incredible romance for these two while also teasing the next book. I have a few ideas of who I think the pairing will be. Until then though, I have to applaud Katee Robert as I always do.

Every time I pick up a new book from them or even, a backlist title, it feels like coming home. I truly can’t see what comes next in every series they’re working on. However, if you’ve been putting this series off, do yourself a favor and pick up Blood on the Tide.

Blood on the Tide by Katee Robert is out now where books are sold.
