Lily and Ryle's story began on a rooftop overlooking a big city with shining lights under the night sky. A connection built between them because they sensed they were both wrestling with life as they opened up to one another. Sparks almost started to fly, but their night did not end on a passionate note. This was the start of something that was going to change the course of her heart and mind.
Lily knew that to ensure the success of her flower shop by starting renovations. When a bubbly woman named Allyssa walked through the door looking for a job, Lily knew that she would be a part of a tag-team in the startup of her business. But Allyssa had a brother that Lily was seemingly-fated to see again.
As soon as Allyssa's brother came in, time seemed to slow. Quickly pulling herself together, she introduced herself to him like it was the first time. But they had an unspoken secret shared between them. This sparked a plan for Ryle to exert his way into Lily's life.
While she may have desired him, she was adamant about getting involved with him. But Ryle did not believe that they should have boundaries between them set in place. He was fervent in his attempts to pursue Lily even though he went against his usual desires of not settling down.
Everything was picturesque at first, but Lily noticed an abusive pattern in Ryle that was prevalent in her mother and father's relationship. Ryle went from being the person Lily looked forward to seeing the most, to the person she feared the most. Over time, Ryle became scornful and vicious in his treatment towards Lily making her feel ensnared in his trap.
Like anybody who is a victim of abuse, she grew tired and decided to change her story by leaving him and contacting Atlas for support in divorcing him. She knew that it would be hard to break away from him, but she also knew that she needed to do something to end the cycle for good. So, Lily proves that if she can do it, anybody else can too. She proves this by inspiring courage amongst others seeing her break free from the cage by putting the meaning into "It Ends With Us" and encouraging a new meaning that is "It Starts With You."
