When Laura Moher released Curves for Days, I had no idea just how much I’d fall in love with that book, the town, and the characters we’ve come to know and love. Going into Hard to Get, I was understandably excited.
Aside from the small town being the most picturesque place ever, it’s also doubling as a matchmaking service. While it might seem funny, the sheer number of couples in this series is awesome and one of the biggest highlights.
The other is obviously the diversity in terms of body type, age, and background, as every single romance has given us something new. That’s why I knew I was going to enjoy Hard to Get, but this book ended up surprising me in the best way.
I’d like to thank Sourcebooks Casablanca for putting this one on my radar and giving me an ARC, so I was able to read this one early.
Hard to Get is a surprisingly romantic romp from Laura Moher.
If you don’t want to know any of this book’s plot, it’s best you leave now, as there is one plot detail we have to talk about. For those who have looked at the synopsis, you’ll know that it follows Andi, who ends up hooking up with the new guy in town, Kevin. She makes it clear that she wants nothing more than just to hook up, as her grandmother shared that they’d be cursed when it came to men.
As you might imagine, Andi and Kevin end up meeting again, but not under the circumstances some might think. After their night of passion, Andi is pregnant, and Kevin is the father, so they end up having to deal with that while also navigating their relationship. Meanwhile, Kevin is a teacher, and Andi works at the local domestic violence shelter.
Even with the pregnancy storyline, Moher doesn’t rush the romance, and that’s one thing I really admire about this story. While it might seem like the obvious choice, Andi needed to grow more as a character and learn to trust Kevin before anything progressed. However, once the two get together, you really do want to shake them and ask why they didn’t notice all the chemistry.
While this book does deal with pregnancy, domestic violence, parental abandonment, and much more, it is such a hopeful and romantic story. Of course, be sure that you’re in the right headspace to read it, but if you loved Laura Moher’s other books, you’ll enjoy Hard to Get.
Hard to Get by Laura Moher is out now where books are sold.
