Somehow, we’ve made it to one of the last big holidays of the year as we inch closer to the winter season and get to celebrate Thanksgiving today. We’re so excited to get together with our friends and family to enjoy a delicious dinner and spend some quality time together. Whether you’re sticking with a classic turkey this year or mixing it up to accommodate other tastes, we’re sure you’re also looking forward to your feast this afternoon.
But if you’re rushing around the kitchen right now and realize you might not have all of the grocery items you need to make today perfect, you’re likely wondering which stores are open right now. It is Thanksgiving Day, after all, so many stores will be closed or have limited hours. If Aldi is your go-to spot for all of your shopping, we come bearing some less-than-stellar news.
Aldi is closed on Thanksgiving but open on Black Friday
Unfortunately, Aldi is closed on Thanksgiving Day, according to their store information website. But it’s not all bad news. The grocery store is set to open its doors again on Black Friday, Nov. 24. Locations should be back to their usual hours on Friday and aren’t supposed to have any limitations. While this is great news for shoppers on Black Friday, you might be out of luck if you need to grab items today.
So what grocery stores are open on Thanksgiving? The good news is there are other options for you to get your last-minute shopping in today. Kroger, Meijer, Whole Foods, and ACME are all reported to be open today, though with potentially limited hours. Unfortunately, stores like Target and Costco are closed at most locations for the holiday. As always, we’d recommend you calling ahead to your local grocery store to double-check their hours, though we can confirm Aldi is closed today.
Aldi is slashing prices this week
If you can wait until Black Friday to get your weekend shopping in, Aldi is offering awesome deals this week. According to BlackerFriday.com, Aldi’s holiday sale began on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and will run through Tuesday, Nov. 28 — or while supplies last. Their Thanksgiving and Black Friday sale includes items like an Ambiano Raclette Grill or Electric Fondue Pot for $24.99 each, along with holiday-themed dishcloths and napkins at a low price. Aldi is also offering lounging apparel at low prices, for example, children’s boots for $9.99.
Ready to get your holiday shopping out of the way for children’s gifts? Aldi’s got you. They’re offering a Tara Toy Magnetic Dress-Up Closet for $14.99, along with a Hello Kitty weighted blanket for $19.99. Other gifts include collectibles, winter beanies, pet sweaters, and more at affordable prices.
As reported by Fox 8, Aldi has “cut prices by as much as 50% on store items starting Nov. 1.” That’s incredible news for the holiday season as shoppers buy their long list of menu items for the festivities and shop for presents. In a press release, Aldi President Dave Rinaldo shared:
"“Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, and we’re so grateful for our many loyal customers from coast to coast. With inflation still looming, we’re providing shoppers extra relief to make the holidays a time for celebration, not stress. What’s served on the Thanksgiving table is just as important as who’s sitting around it, so ALDI is delivering big savings on key items so there’s always room for more guests.”"
Some of the most exciting discounts this Thanksgiving include Stonemill Regular Gravy Mix, going from $0.59 to $0.29, Baker’s Corner Pumpkin Pie Mix, which has decreased in price from $2.69 to $1.89, and Southern Grove Pecan Halves which now sells for $3.49. It’s a great time to be an Aldi shopper! If you need last-minute items on Thanksgiving Day, fingers crossed you find a grocery store near you that’s open.
