National Comic Book Day: See America’s favorite comic book characters

September 25th is known around the US as National Comic Book Day. Everyone has a favorite comic book character and there are some that transcend comics.

When most people think of the first comic books they’ve ever read, it’s usually featuring a superhero. That’s why it’s awesome to look and see which ones are the most beloved.

This data was shared by Casino.org and gave us a look at some of America’s Favorite Comic Book Characters. The data was compiled by them but I’m just sharing it so all credit goes to them.

Whether you’re team Marvel, team DC, or somewhere in between, the results might surprise you.

This new data is perfect for National Comic Book Day 2023.

Let’s start off what everyone is likely wondering and that’s who America’s favorite comic book character is. Reigning supreme in 34 states is none other than Batman. The Dark Knight aka Bruce Wayne himself is the top superhero in more than half of the United States.

Given how many actors have played him, how many arcs he’s had, and how beloved Batman still is, this isn’t surprising. The rest of the list might not come as a surprise either as second place is Spider-Man followed by Wonder Woman, Superman and rounding out the list is Wolverine. We’ve also got a look at some favorite villains, too.

Looking at villains, it’s another familiar face at number 1 with Joker taking the top spot. I feel like this is another non-surprise as he’s easily Batman’s biggest nemesis so seeing those two at the top spots is awesome. The top three are all Batman villains with Joker, Catwoman, and Harley Quinn. Finishing out the list are two Marvel villains which are Loki and Magneto.

The other stat I wanted to touch on for National Comic Book Day is the whole “Team Marvel vs. Team DC” debate. While Batman is overall a favorite for comic book characters, most of the people questioned consider themselves Team Marvel with 66.8% siding with Marvel. In contrast, only 33.2% were Team DC.

Given how many comic book characters there are, it’s awesome to see some classic characters still getting some love. Of course, that means only one thing and I have to ask.
