Dragon Con 2023: What to know about the largest pop convention

Dragon Con 2023 is happening over Labor Day weekend from August 31st to September 4th. It promises to be an epic, fun-filled extravaganza in Atlanta, Georgia, from the parade taking over the main streets to the colorfully dressed cosplayers and a legion of film and TV stars on the guest roster. Known as “the largest multi-media popular culture convention,” according to their website, Dragon Con began as a local hobby enthusiast event in 1987 and soon exploded in the thirty-plus years since. Fans around the globe flock to Atlanta to meet their favorite stars and connect interests with others. It’s predicted that the attendance for 2023 will be around 65,000, if not more. While the number may feel like there’ll likely be some anxiety, being around people who share the same passions will have a calming effect.

What guests will be at Dragon Con 2023?

On this year’s guest roster, George Takei of Star Trek fame will be in attendance, Hocus Pocus‘ Omri Katz, Vanessa Shaw, and Jason Marsden, The 100‘s Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley, Tasya Teles, Henry Ian Cusick, Richard Harmon, and Luisa d’Oliveira, Planet of the Apes star Andy Serkis, and many more to see. Comic book artists, authors, gaming experts, voice actors from popular animations, and musical talents will also be included.

Where will Dragon Con 2023 take place?

The five-day (yes, five days) event will happen in Atlanta, Georgia, and will be hosted at five hotels (Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Hilton Atlanta, Courtland Grand Hotel, Marriot Marquis Atlanta, and the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel) as there’ll be so much action that it couldn’t be packed in one location. The hotels will be clustered together so that accessing the convention will be a breeze!

Where can I stay if I plan to attend more than one day?

While bookings are sold out at the host locations, some spots are still available at the nearby hotels, for which attendees can receive a discount from Dragon Con. What activities will be at Dragon Con 2023?

Every year, a parade on Atlanta’s main streets is open to the public, and the featured guests will be highlighted by participating. Additionally, there’ll be photo ops, autograph sessions, panels, workshops, art shows, vendors, and so much more!
