Is Nancy Drew making mistakes with her investigation because she is distracted by heartbreak?
In episode 5 of Nancy Drew’s fourth season, “The Oracle of the Whispering Remains,” we saw something we don’t normally see with Nancy. We saw Nancy making a lot of mistakes with her case.
With eight missing bodies that reanimated and then spit out some weird, black goo, you would think Nancy Drew would be doing what she does best – solving the case. Instead, Nancy has been focusing more on the fallout of the curse on her and Ace. And while we don’t necessarily blame her, she is also putting herself and others in danger.
Over the course of the fifth episode, we saw Nancy doing things the way she always does, full steam ahead. But at the same time, she is clearly not doing her due diligence when it comes to finding answers.
Is heartbreak making Nancy Drew careless in the fourth season?
Not only did she open a known relic that is associated with dead bodies that had weird symbols grow on their teeth without any precautions, but then when that same relic doesn’t seem to immediately give her answers she drops it and ditches. Now maybe it is just me, but clearly, this relic is associated with multiple dead people and an entire mystery that includes black memory-altering goo, symbols growing on teeth, and reanimated corpses. And knowing that, why would anyone be okay with coughing on that same relic’s dust?
I get that Nancy is heartbroken that she may not get to be with Ace upon fear of death, but how about we solve this case first and not inflict paranormal damage on ourselves and others? Just because one “solution” backfired in terms of breaking the curse keeping these two lovebirds apart, that doesn’t mean they can’t find something else to save the day.
Not only are these two giving up way too easily (or so it seems), but they are also being stupid at the same time. Maybe they should be sitting out on this whole saving the day thing if they aren’t going to do it right.
It’s really frustrating watching Nancy Drew make stupid mistakes over a guy, but here we are.
