2. “Love Story”

Heading into the top two, I really struggled yet I decided to flip-flop at the last minute. This is why I’m curious to hear what my fellow Taylor Swift fans are thinking. In particular, I really grappled with this choice. Even so, I decided to put “Love Story” at #2 for multiple reasons.

Firstly, it’s one of Taylor’s most popular singles from this album and is one that fans hold a fondness for. Additionally, it’s another single with a killer music video. Plus it’s one of those songs you listen to once and you can’t get enough of it. When it comes to Taylor Swift, this is easily one of the first songs to come to mind if you’re not a fan.

“Love Story” is another super cute and sweet love song. While it has clear references to Romeo & Juliet, it’s clear the two end up together in the end. It might not be the romantic song featured on the album, but it’s popular for a reason. To me, it’s so sweepingly romantic and feels like a fairytale. I’m sure that’s exactly what Taylor was going for so this one had to be high up on my list.

1. “Mr. Perfectly Fine”

As for my top pick, I actually went with a single from “Taylor’s Version” and that’s “Mr. Perfectly Fine.” This is a song supposedly inspired by Taylor’s relationship with Joe Jonas and it’s clear she had strong feelings afterward. The song is basically calling him out for feeling nothing and her dealing with the aftermath of him breaking her heart.

Honestly, I love Joe Jonas but I love this song. I feel like so many girls and women feel or have felt the same way Taylor did when she wrote this. It’s such a unique take on a breakup song so there was no way I couldn’t put it at #1 on my list. Lyrically, this song is a delight so if you haven’t listened to this yet, you need to. Even if you have, it never hurts to do a relisten.
