There is something to be said about attending your first book signing and when it’s an author like Lucy Score, it’s bound to be a lot of fun.

Upon hearing Lucy was embarking on a book tour, I knew I wanted to attend and thankfully, the Books-A-Million location in Harrisburg was hosting so it was close enough for me. As this was my first book signing, I was understandably nervous.

However, the staff at BAM was incredibly welcoming and I felt completely at ease within a few minutes. After purchasing my two books, I took a few pictures which will be featured below, and got a feel for just how many people were going to be attending the signing.

Even though Lucy Score had yet to enter the building, the line was vastly building up and by the time it hit noon which was when the signing began, the line was looping around the store which gave me ample chances to talk to my fellow readers and find out why they love Lucy and what about her books keeps them coming back for more.

The love for Lucy Score at Books-A-Million Harrisburg was huge yet incredible.

Before diving into why Lucy Score is loved as much as she is, I’d be remiss to not thank the BAM staff for making sure I had a great time. I could snap photos, talk to the workers, and even try the signature drink for the event. For the signing, there were two specialty drinks inspired by the cover which were a “Strawberry Rose Mocha Latte” and a “Strawberry Rose Frappe.”

Even though I’m not a big coffee drinker, I thought the latte was delicious. I also loved the displays in the store featuring Lucy’s books and even an “If You Loved Lucy” which featured recommendations from authors similar to her. It was such a lovely setup and you could tell that the staff enjoyed and appreciated Lucy as an author.

Another quick thank you before I get into it was Lucy’s family and street team. They were all so welcoming and I honestly felt so happy and honored to be able to talk to them. By the end, we all felt like friends and it was such a comforting feeling. I was even able to have conversations with Lucy’s family including her brother and husband which I honestly didn’t think would happen at all.

Overall as an event goes, it was incredibly well-organized. Everything ran like a well-oiled machine. From the way the line moved to the people getting their books signed to the pictures being taken, it was everything I could have hoped for. With a crowd as massive as Lucy garnered, the organization was vital. Once again, I’d like to thank the staff and Lucy’s team for being so incredibly wonderful and sweet to me.

With such a huge turnout, what did Lucy Score fans have to say?

The book signing itself had a cap of 200 people which equates to a lot of people and a lot of books so I was eager to talk to readers once the event started. I quickly made a rookie mistake by asking everyone what their favorite book by Lucy Score was. More often than not, it was “All of them” which is the correct answer.

While I started off with that question and quickly stopped after around 30 people, the most popular answer was quickly Things We Never Got Over which makes sense followed by Forever Never, her Riley Thorn series, and By A Thread. Additionally, readers also showed love to Pretend You’re Mine, Rock Bottom GirlThe Worst Best Man, her Bootleg Springs series, and Finally Mine.

All in all, fans gave love to some of her older and newer books but I was curious about why they gravitated toward Lucy Score and her books. For this one, I talked to over 50 people with a wide range of answers. One that came up over and over again was how funny and feel-good her books are. Even though they might have more emotional storylines, her books still make you feel good and that’s something I couldn’t agree with more.

Another one I was given a few times was the setting for multiple reasons. Some people cited their love for small-town stories and how you come to know and love all the characters within that certain town/universe. Some cited the fact that her Riley Thorn series is set in Harrisburg so it’s something to relate to and seeing those local places referenced in her books is fun.

Keeping with that same thought, a lot of readers shared how real her books felt to them while others cited how the storylines are easy to get into or how it’s an escape from the stresses of their lives. While she’s known for writing romances, some even said that they do enjoy the romance but her worlds are so fleshed-out and her stories feature a larger plotline not connected to the romance.

As for her characters, loads of people shared their favorite characters and talked about how well Lucy Score writes character growth/development within her stories. One reader made a point that she doesn’t just stick to one age group. Her characters are of all different ages and it was clear as there wasn’t just one age group waiting to meet and talk to Lucy at the signing.

Some of my favorites that people mentioned were that her book covers were stunning, she writes the perfect blend of plot and spice, she teases just enough to keep readers wanting more, she writes in a variety of genres, and lastly, she’s such a great author and a lovelier person.

Simply put, everyone myself included loves Lucy Score and this is just the start.

On a personal note, I wanted to share that I had an amazing time covering this event and frankly, it made me fall in love with Lucy Score. (Sorry, Mr. Lucy!) She was such a sweet person and seeing her interaction with her readers and seeing their excitement was amazing. Even when everyone was done having their books signed, she still signed my book, got a picture with me, and talked to me.

I’m honestly getting a bit emotional, thinking about it. Lucy Score was the first romance author I’ve met and I don’t think the bar can get any higher. She’s such a sweet and talented person that has a great team of people behind her and the support of readers everywhere. She’s so deserving and it’s clear she’s appreciative of all her readers.

Overall if you haven’t picked up a Lucy Score book yet, hopefully, my post will inspire you to do it. I know it might seem intimidating but once you start, you’ll fall head-over-heels in love with her books and won’t be able to stop so maybe you’ll be the next one, attending a signing for her and showing her some love.
