Love and appreciation for romance books have grown so much over the past 3 years. Maybe it was because of quarantine or maybe it was because people needed some joy in their lives.

Regardless of how it happened, it’s been a huge change for romance writers and readers as there’s an entirely new group of romance book lovers. I can’t shortchange the impact of BookTok although it does tend to be the only platform some talk about.

Currently, it feels like romance books are in a renaissance with romance authors getting a chance at being traditionally published or romance books being re-released by publishers. In honor of that, I wanted to highlight some romance books being re-released.

Whether they were self-published by the author or featured within a smaller press, these romance books are all getting a chance at being in the hands of more readers.

The first few romance books being featured are some new adult delights.

1. Addicted For Now by Krista & Becca Ritchie

The first book being featured on this list is actually a beloved new adult series and that’s the Addicted series by Krista & Becca Ritchie. This series absolutely blew up on BookTok and was eventually picked up by Berkley to be re-released. Honestly, I’m not surprised as I saw this book everywhere on the Internet and even, on some tables at Barnes & Noble.

For the sake of this list, I’m featuring the upcoming release which is actually book 3 in the series and it continues to follow Lily and Lo’s story. Honestly, I haven’t picked up this series yet but it’s such a widely lovely and discussed series that it had to make the cut. This is set for release on March 21st, 2023.

2. Dare You To Hate Me by B. Celeste

Another author whose books are being re-released in 2023 is B. Celeste. In January, Underneath the Sycamore Tree was re-released but now, we’re getting her Lindon U series republished. This is a new adult sports romance series being published by Bloom Books. Honestly, Bloom Books has picked up some amazing authors so this is just one of many appearances on this list.

These books are football romances set at Lindon University but we’re talking about Dare You To Hate Me which follows Aidan and Ivy who were childhood friends and then something happens but they eventually reconnect at Lindon University. This is a second-chance romance and it honestly sounds so angsty yet amazing. Dare You To Hate Me will be released on April 11, 2023.

These next four romance books feature some unlikely pairings.

3. Barbarian’s Mate by Ruby Dixon

If you’ve been on BookTok, to a Barnes & Noble, or anywhere on the internet, you’ve heard about the Big Blue Aliens. No, I’m not talking about Avatar, I’m talking about Ice Planet Barbarians. Ruby Dixon’s series was picked up by Berkley and they’re re-releasing her beloved series. Currently, this is book 6 in the series and this one is Josie and Haeden’s story.

Honestly, as someone who has started and enjoyed this series so far, I’m happy to see Berkley is publishing them traditionally now. While alien romance isn’t for everyone, these romance books certainly have an audience. This re-released version will be out on July 11th, 2023.

4. Pestilence by Laura Thalassa

Moving onto another unlikely pairing, this re-release is actually of Laura Thalassa’s The Four Horsemen series. If you’re not familiar with this series, you might be familiar with the concept as it’s a romance series featuring the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The first book, Pestilence which is also known as plague/disease follows him as he has a romance with Sara who he takes his prisoner as she tries to kill him.

As you can see, this series definitely won’t be for everyone, but I’m excited to finally pick it up. I know how beloved this series of Laura Thalassa’s is so this was an easy one to add to my list. The release date for this is August 15th, 2023.

5. Eyes On Me by Sara Cate

Moving on to another beloved romance series, I had to feature the next book in the Salacious Players Club by Sara Cate. Praise was re-released in February and now, we’re getting the next book which is Eyes On Me. This follows Garrett who is one of the owners of the club and the romance he has with his step-sister, Mia.

As with each of these books, Eyes On Me follows a particular kink and for this book, it’s voyeurism which makes sense as Mia is a cam girl. Honestly, I’m a bit hesitant to go into this one but I adored Praise so I’m keeping an open mind. I trust Sara Cate to do kink well, too so we’ll see. Eyes on Me will be re-released on June 13, 2023.

6. Dark Succession by Katee Robert

No list of mine would be complete without a Katee Robert book. She could write the phonebook and I’d read it. This time, I’m featuring her O’Malley’s series which is getting revamped covers and titles. Originally published as The Marriage Contract, this one is being re-released as Dark Succession but will still feature the same marriage-of-convenience trope, over-protective hero, and Mafia elements.

As much as I don’t always love cover changes, this one is definitely for the better. If you’re looking to revisit the O’Malley’s series or want to dive into something old/new for KR, Dark Succession is set for release on May 9th, 2023.

These next two romance books feature more emotional and hard-hitting plots.

7. Travis by Mia Sheridan

Redeeming a character is never easy and that’s exactly what Mia Sheridan is trying to prove in Travis which follows the “villain” from Archer’s Voice. This time, we’re getting Travis’ POV as he tries to get his life together and the eventual romance he has with Haven. While I don’t want to talk too much about it, I adored this book and you’ll see a review soon.

Until then though, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for it to come out and to see my thoughts. The release date for Travis is April 4th, 2023. Trust me if you’re at all intrigued by this cover, you need to have this one on your wishlist.

The King Maker

8. The Kingmaker by Kennedy Ryan

If you want your heart ripped out, look no further than Kennedy Ryan. This woman knows how to write with so much emotion that you’ll be feeling sad for weeks. As for the book though, The Kingmaker spans a decades-long romance between Lennix and Maxim who meet at a protest and then reconnect over time but always seem to miss their window.

There are plenty of secrets between the two and so much to unravel in The Kingmaker that you’ll be dying until you get to book 2. Thankfully, The Kingmaker is coming out on May 23rd, 2023 while The Rebel King will be out on June 27th, 2023. At least there isn’t a long wait so The Kingmaker will still be fresh in your mind.

The final two romances are a breath of fresh air for those who want lighter fare.

9. Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison

If you’re looking for something with soft and cozy vibes, then Lovelight Farms will be right up your alley. This indie romance blew up over Christmas 2022 and eventually was picked up by Berkley to be published traditionally along with the other books in the series. While this one is marketed as a Christmas romance, it doesn’t actually take place during Christmas.

Lovelight Farms follows Stella who owns a Christmas tree farm and the romance she has with Luka, her best friend who agrees to fake-date her to help the farm. This was such a lovely story that was so soft and sweet that I couldn’t help but fall in love with it. Thankfully, you don’t have to wait long for it to be released as it’s being re-released on June 6th, 2023.

The Comeback

10. The Comeback by Lily Chu

The final romance book making my list is The Comeback by Lily Chu. While some might not consider this one a “re-release,” it was originally released on audio but is now being published in a print version by Sourcebooks Casablanca. If you enjoyed The Stand-In by Lily Chu, then I’m sure you’re excited to get your hands on this one.

The Comeback follows Ariadne who is a lawyer and Choi Jihoon, her roommate’s cousin that actually a hugely recognizable figure. I don’t want to give too much away as I haven’t read it yet but I adored The Stand-In so I’m sure Lily Chu will have a lot to say about relationships and fame. If you’re looking to purchase The Comeback, the release date for it is May 9th, 2023.
