Rogue by Elle Kennedy is a messy yet fun follow-up
Elle Kennedy is the queen of new adult romance especially sports romance. However, Misfit and Rogue in her Prep Series take it to an entirely new level.
If you’ve read Elle Kennedy before, you have an idea of her writing and how compulsively readable her books are. If you’ve enjoyed her previous works including the Off-Campus series or her Briar U series, then you might be shocked by Misfit and Rogue.
The one major difference is that Misfit and Rogue take place at a boarding school with high school students as the main characters. Even so, this series took me on such a wild ride that there was no way I wasn’t sharing my non-spoiler thoughts about Rogue and encouraging you to pick up the series.
If you’ve been wanting to read something new from Elle Kennedy and haven’t read Misfit or Rogue yet, you need to be adding it to your TBR pronto.
Rogue is the messiest yet most entertaining follow-up to Misfit by Elle Kennedy.
Before I get into the details though, I’d like to thank Bloom Books for sending me finished copies of both books. I ended up reading Misfit in one sitting while I savored Rogue over a few days.
As I said, Rogue is the second book in her Prep Series so I won’t talk about plot details as that would be spoilers. If you have read Misfit though and you’re curious about a certain plotline featuring Casey, then you’re in for a wild ride. I honestly couldn’t have guessed who was involved and what was going to happen next.
With the way Rogue wrapped up, I feel like there’s potential for a third book to be announced yet I’m not unhappy if this is how the story ends. Personally, though, I do feel like there are a lot of characters who deserve a happily-ever-after. Then again, Elle Kennedy is a busy writer these days so we’ll see.
If you’re just an Elle Kennedy fan and aren’t sure about this series, it’s one I know I’ll recommend as it’s incredibly soapy and dramatic. The first book follows RJ who ends up becoming stepbrothers with Fenn and the two are sent to Sandover Prep. From there, the drama unfolds with relationships, betrayals, drugs, and even, some affairs.
I feel like it’s summarized best by saying #richpeopleproblems but make it entertaining. While I do think Misfit was a bit more dramatic, Rogue focused more on the mysteries and plotlines carried over from the first book. If you enjoy Misfit, you’ll want to have Rogue queued up next as the cliffhanger is pretty massive at the end of book 1.
Even though I’ve never watched Gossip Girl, this one does get compared to the show a lot so if you’re looking for something with Gossip Girl vibes, this should fit the bill. If you’re looking for drama, angst, betrayal, and everything that constitutes a messy story, Misfit and Rogue is it.
You might be hesitant to pick this series up but if you’re looking for something fast-paced with lots of characters and drama while still being fun, you need to add this to your TBR. My only complaint was that these books were a bit too sexual for my liking as it follows high school characters but that could be the nerd in me talking. Either way, you really can’t go wrong in at least giving the Prep Series a try.
Rogue by Elle Kennedy is out now wherever books are sold.
