Scarlett St. Clair has a busy schedule which includes multiple ongoing series. If that wasn’t enough, Mountains Made of Glass is the start of a new fairytale retellings series.

As someone who is both a romance reader and lover of the genre, I just have to give Scarlett St. Clair a round of applause. How does she do all of this? Regardless, I can’t say I’m complaining though as I dropped everything to read Mountains Made of Glass.

Firstly, I’d like to thank Bloom Books for sending me an early ARC copy. I know how beloved Scarlett St. Clair is as an author and being able to read this early was a privilege. Knowing there are more books coming within this series too makes me even more excited.

If you’re looking for a taste of Scarlett St. Clair or want something to tide you between books, Mountains Made of Glass is the perfect short fantasy romance read.

Mountains Made of Glass is the ultimate tease by Scarlett St. Clair.

As someone who is a newbie to Scarlett St. Clair, I was a bit nervous but I had nothing to worry about. Mountains Made of Glass is the first book in her new Fairytale Retelling series with each book following a group of brothers who each rule a kingdom and have a romance.

This first book is Casamir’s book. Casamir rules over the Kingdom of Thorns and he takes Gesela who murdered his brother for her own reasons. She starts off as his prisoner, but it’s clear these two can’t keep their eyes, bodies, or feelings away from each other. From the moment Casamir and Gesela meet, the tension is delicious and their chemistry is undeniable.

With Mountains Made of Glass being a novella, I don’t want to delve too much into the plot, but I will say that this feels like the start of something exciting. There’s even an index in the front that features all the different creatures we meet and the names of all the brothers and the different kingdoms they rule over.

Even though I’m not a huge fantasy romance reader, I feel like this novella did an excellent job of setting up this world while also showcasing the romance. I was surprised at how many steamy moments we got between Casamir and Gesela but I wasn’t mad about it. If anything, I feel like it really helped to solidify their connection.

Frankly, I don’t have anything to complain about with Mountains Made of Glass. If you’re new to Scarlett St. Clair, this is a great introduction to her writing and what to expect from a longer offering. If you’re a fan of Scarlett St Clair, then I’m sure I don’t have to convince you.

All in all, Scarlett St. Clair pitched it in the best way by saying: “They are a great mix of fantasy and horror…they are also ridiculous and romantic.” There are no better words to describe this first book than that. I just know I’ll be diving into the next novella when it comes out.

Until then though, her next full-length release looks to be A Game of Gods which is book 3 in her Hades Saga. If you’re missing Scarlett St. Clair and want more of her writing, then Mountains Made of Glass is a must-download this week.
