Margaret and Todd Wright have been called out in So Help Me Todd’s “Against All Todds” when multiple people referenced their predictability given their patterns of behavior. So Help Me Todd has followed a similar routine, even before the show’s first episode.

When Veronica tried to frame Todd and send him to jail, Margaret stepped in and saved him. At the time, Todd had no idea that Veronica was preparing to set him up, but Margaret still determined that Todd needed to understand how he had messed up by placing thousands of dollars in debt over his head to pay her back.

Two years later, Todd is still making similar mistakes. When Veronica comes to him claiming dangerous criminals want her dead, Todd can not help himself and agrees to help her. Logically, Todd should know that continuing to be involved with Veronica is a bad idea. Everyone important in his life had told him so previously the last time he went to her for help.

Everyone else is proven right once again when Todd ends up arrested. Todd and Margaret Wright’s relationship gets placed under the microscope by a judge, who informs Margaret that they are proving a pattern of behavior.

Todd will mess up horribly, and Margaret will inevitably help him. The situation does not seem to matter; Margaret will step in to protect her son from jail. But is that preventing Todd from understanding the repercussions of his actions? Or, is Veronica’s latest ploy to attempt to ruin Margaret’s life enough of a punishment for Todd to open his eyes?

Can Todd ever recognize how his behavior pattern is causing him problems and those around him as well? Although being framed is not Todd’s fault, his inability to listen to others can hinder him at critical moments.

Margaret and Todd’s predictable behavior is also referenced by Veronica, who explains she relied on it for her revenge plan to work. Luckily, the Wright mother-son duo came through, in the end, to save Todd from a future in prison while proving Veronica had been behind the events that could ruin his life once again.

Still, now that So Help Me Todd has addressed Margaret and Todd’s behavior, maybe the series can allow the duo to move forward in a way that does not require Margaret to save Todd from constantly getting involved with the wrong people.
