Are banks open on Christmas? (2022)
By Chad Porto
Are you hoping to do some banking on Christmas?
For some people, Christmas is just another day of the year. There’s nothing wrong with that. Some people just don’t get excited about the festivities, nor do they even celebrate the holiday. In fact, a lot of countries don’t observe the holiday, and if you’re someone who works abroad or you have dealings with people who work abroad, you may find yourself working on Christmas even if you do observe the holiday.
So if you’re someone who has to get work or errands done on Dec. 25, you may find yourself in need to go to the bank. If you’re someone who is working and needs to go to the Bank, you’re sadly going to be out of luck, because banks are closed on Christmas.
Are banks closed on Christmas?
Not only are banks closed because it’s Christmas, but they’d also be closed anyway as the holiday lands on a Sunday and banks aren’t open on Sundays. So you really wouldn’t be able to get there anyway.
That said, the ATMs should be operating as usual on Dec. 25, so if you need to go to the bank to withdraw or place money into your account, you can still do so as if it were any other day of the year.
When do banks reopen after Christmas?
If you’re in dire need to talk to someone at the bank and you just can’t put it off, you won’t be waiting for too long at all. Banks will re-open as usual after the holidays on Monday, Dec. 26, and resume their regular hours of operation.
So if you have to get a loan, or have questions regarding money that you just can’t get answered anywhere else, you’ll be able to do so relatively quickly.
