When it comes to holiday romances, most people think of Christmas romances. However, Love All Year: A Holiday Anthology switches things up.

I’m sure I speak for some of my fellow readers when I say December is a make-or-break month. If you’re behind on your Goodreads goal, you’re trying to catch up. If you have other plans you have yet to meet, you’re catching up.

That’s why it’s nice to throw something a bit unorthodox as a #TBRTrending pick. I don’t usually reach for anthologies, but sometimes one will catch my eye and that’s what happened with Love All Year.

While it might seem like an odd choice, this is actually a great holiday read.

This week’s #TBRTrending pick is Love All Year: A Holidays Anthology.

If you didn’t know, an anthology is a collection of short stories all put together in one book. For the most part, we don’t usually see romance anthologies, but this one features short stories from all different authors and focuses on lesser-known/acknowledged holidays.

Love All Year: A Holidays Anthology was edited by Elizabeth Kahn who also has a story within the collection, too. Some of the other authors included in this collection are Savannah J. Frierson, Celestine Martin, and Farah Heron. Obviously, all of those authors have published works independently of the collection but are some of the bigger names in the lineup.

This collection of romance stories doesn’t focus on the traditional holidays we know but does focus a lot on Jewish holidays. With that being said, this is a great book if you’re looking to read more books with Jewish characters/celebrations on the page. That’s especially rare to find amongst all of the Christmas releases.

As someone who enjoyed the anthology, I’d be remiss to not talk about my favorite stories, the first of which was “Legacy of Love” by Savannah J. Frierson which is a Juneteenth story that despite having one of my least favorite tropes, I enjoyed. The other I really enjoyed was “It Happened One Yule” by Celestine Martin which featured Wicca and the only-one-bed trope which was a delight.

If you’re looking for something a bit more unique and are tired of the traditional holiday romances, then Love All Year: A Holidays Anthology is worth picking up. It also gives an idea of each author’s writing style and if you’d like to try their books in the future. Either way, I feel like this is such an underrated short story collection.
