Is Walgreens open on Thanksgiving? (2022)
By FanSided
Walgreens has been saving people on Thanksgiving for years now. When you need a box of stuffing mix, a bottle of wine, some waterproof mascara, or the allergy medicine to get you through a night at Aunt Edna’s, Walgreens is the place to go. They will be open on Thanksgiving day for all of your shopping needs.
There are some important things to be aware of when it comes to holiday hours. Many Walgreens locations are open 24 hours, but some aren’t. You definitely need to call ahead if you are not sure about the hours of the Walgreens nearest you and you need to go there outside of the 8 a.m. -10 p.m. hours. (If you live near a 24-hour location, it will be open on Thanksgiving with no change to the schedule)
Another consideration is that the pharmacist will not necessarily be on duty just because the store is open, so if you need to fill a prescription, you might need to wait until normal business hours resume on Friday. Again, calling ahead is a must when it comes to specialty departments like the pharmacy and photo department.
Is Walgreens closed on Thanksgiving? (2022)
Before the days of pre-Black Friday shopping on Thursday evenings, it used to be that nothing was open on Thanksgiving. That was great news for employees, of course, but when you need the antacid and there’s nowhere to go, well, that was rough. Then Walgreens came along with their 24/7 stores and it was a game-changer.
Walgreens is the ideal store to be open every day of the year because they sell just about everything. They have the medicines, toiletries, and makeup that you would expect in a drug store, but they also have an impressive selection of holiday goods, groceries, and all of the things you forget that you need at the worst possible time to forget them. They’re the best (and sometimes only) place to go when you find out that your luggage didn’t make the flight to Grandma’s house and you need to replenish your allergy medicine.
Make sure you call ahead before setting out to your nearest Walgreens, but generally speaking you will find that Walgreens will be there for you on Thanksgiving.
