Motherland: Fort Salem: How Does The Series End?
Motherland: Fort Salem’s series finale, “Revolution Part 2,” finally delivered the long-awaited battle between the witches and the Camarilla. But was it the battle everyone thought would take place?
While the Unit does fight against the Camarilla, for the most part, their goal involves them going through a doorway the Mother leads them to. Meanwhile, Alder continues her search for the last piece of the First Song.
Rather than separate Tally, Abigail, Raelle, and Scylla in the final hour, Motherland: Fort Salem keeps the Unit together. However, not everyone is safe for long.
It would not be a war without casualties, and sadly, Anacostia died in the heat of the battle, with her last moments being saving her friends from an incoming flying truck. Otherwise, everyone else luckily survives the war, even if it does not look great for Raelle, Scylla, and Adil for a while.
But, the biggest event of the finale happens within the Mycelium. While it will help the group heal, it is also the location of Tally’s vision, where Raelle’s witch bomb destroyed the world. Finally, Motherland: Fort Salem reveals there is more in store for the group than horrific destruction.
Alder’s arrival to join the Unit comes with a piece of news the group desperately needs: Abigail holds the final part of the First Song. When the First Song is finally sung and blasted across the globe due to Raelle’s witch bomb, the Mycelium also heals Raelle, Scylla, and Adil. But what did the First Song do?
Even though they used it, no one is sure what they just accomplished. Other than that, they can feel everything has changed. Another result of their work results in Tally getting her sight back, allowing her to see the First Song’s glow appearing worldwide.
Abigail, Raelle, and Tally, as they see their work on display, also learn a massive plot twist about what they had just achieved. The First Song had given everyone magic, turning everybody into witches. However, that is not the only change. Abigail, Raelle, and Tally will be known as Goddesses.
Otherwise, two of the most prominent members of the Camarilla are killed fairly anti-climactically after spending most of the finale separated from the Unit and other central witches. While Scylla and Adil do not get as momentous endings as Raelle, Tally, and Abigail, it is understood that they played a large part in the show’s events and have received happy endings given their double wedding.
“Revolution Part 2” does rush to the finish in some ways. The Unit spends a brief amount of time near the Camarilla before they walk into the Mycelium. Due to that, they do not get to spend that much time in the actual war or battle, and it appears placing the Camarilla near them is an obstacle to the climax rather than the legitimate threat of war that has been growing over two seasons.
The final season of Motherland: Fort Salem took every opportunity to grow out its lore and broaden the understanding of what its characters were capable of. Each episode strengthened essential bonds between characters or portrayed a greater understanding of why the Camarilla would be the biggest threat the witches have faced.
Motherland: Fort Salem remembered the significance the Unit has to each other and how they have grown close to others. Although “Revolution Part 2” may not have ended with a bang like viewers expected, the show still wrapped up its main storylines and gave a hopeful future to its central characters.
Its happy open-ending suggests that the work is only beginning now that the world has changed drastically. However, “Revolution Part 2” also indicates the significance of the unity the Unit holds and how that can help craft a better future.
