Disney+ announces price changes for streaming services

Are you a fan of Disney? So much so that you have a subscription to Disney+? The company announced on Wednesday that a new ad-supported subscription tier will debut on December 8 for customers in the US. The new tier is set to cost $7.99 a month. If you are not currently subscribed to the platform, you may be unaware that it is the current price of Disney+ right now without ads. The premium tier that comes without commercials will now cost $10.99 per month as of December 8.

The price increase comes is its largest since the November 2019 debut. Prices were last upgraded by $1 on March 2021. The service currently has 152.1 million subscribers. It had 8 million new subscribers in the last quarter.  215 million to 245 million subscribers are set to be on the platform by 2024.

Also affected are Hulu subscribers. The ad-free tier will be $14.99 as of October 10. The ad-supported version will also change prices, going from $6.99 to $7.99. ESPN+ will also see a change in pricing, costing subscribers $9.99 per month.

What if I have a bundle plan?

Subscribers who have a bundle plan are also being affected.  Users with an ad-free Disney+ subscription with an ad-supported Hulu and ESPN+ will now pay $14.99 per month. Disney however, will now have a bundle that includes an ad-free Disney+ and Hulu subscription for  $9.99. Its current plan with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+  with ads will change to $19.99 per month. Live TV is also being affected.

Its live TV bundle with ad-free Disney+ and ad-supported Hulu and ESPN+ will cost $74.99.Hulu’s live TV bundle with Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ (with ads) will now cost $69.99 per month. Its live TV plan for an ad-free Disney+ or Hulu with ad-supported ESPN + will increase to $82.99 per month.
