Despite all of the disappointment from HBO Max, one bright spot is Harley Quinn. Season 3 of the show has been awesome thus far.

While it seems like every DC project is getting axed, Harley Quinn is safe for now. To kick off Season 3 though, the show decided to change up its format. Rather than releasing all of the episodes at once, it’s on a weekly release schedule.

Oddly enough as a Thursday release, the new episodes are something to look forward to. From now on, there is one episode dropping a week after three were dropped in the first week. With an episode title like “A Thief, A Mole, An Orgy,” anything can happen.

With that being said though, there will be spoilers from Season 3, Episode 4 of Harley Quinn. If you haven’t watched, be sure to come back and share your thoughts.

Harley Quinn’s “A Thief, A Mole, An Orgy” is a mixed bag of an episode.

Season 3 of Harley Quinn has been pretty solid thus far. Releasing the first three episodes at once really gave us an idea of what the show was going to be like. That’s why it was so odd that “A Thief, A Mole, An Orgy” was such a mixed bag. Simply put, the episode had a lot of highs but also some lows, too.

Starting with the highs, the episode did an excellent job of showing off how different Harley and Ivy can be. While the two make a good couple, we see them dealing with their differences, especially their work. Ivy really wants to have her nose to the grindstone to try and get things done while Harley is more carefree. Obviously, that difference could end up making some delicious tension later.

Another high during the episode was the plotline with Frank. Since Ivy was able to inject him with her newly revamped serum, he mostly just had to rest and then could wreak havoc as Ivy had planned. However, we all know he was kidnapped and ended up somewhere but we don’t know who or what has him. Either way, that mystery was the perfect way to end the episode.

The final high was that the episode gave us more backstory into Ivy’s relationships. Seeing how Ivy talked about her “relationship” with Catwoman, made Ivy a much more fleshed-out character and showed us that her relationship with Harley was important to her despite their few squabbles.

As for the lows of the episode, this episode really felt like it had a pacing issue. Maybe it was just me but this episode felt oddly slow for some reason. Yes, we did get some backstory and we finally saw Ivy achieve her goal, but nothing in the episode felt particularly exciting or fun compared to other episodes.

The other issue I had was that the episode felt like it had entirely too many storylines going at once. It felt like the focus of the episode should have been tighter. The focus should have been on Harley and Ivy’s relationship or Jim Gordon running for mayor. Either way, the episode just felt like there was entirely too much going on for its 22-minute runtime.

As previously mentioned, the storyline for”A Thief, A Mole, An Orgy” wasn’t awful but it just felt like more of a filler episode. This is similar to how the opener of Season 3 was. Maybe it was due to the lack of action or too many storylines, but this episode lacked the pizzazz of the previous ones.
