Good Trouble Renewed For Season 5
Freeform has officially renewed its successful drama, Good Trouble, for a fifth season! Good Trouble began its first season centering as a spinoff to The Fosters and how Callie and Mariana went to Los Angeles to pursue their lives and careers as young adults.
As the years went on, audiences became attached to the duo’s new supporting characters and roommates, Gael, Malika, Alice, Davia, and Dennis. The third and fourth seasons continued to broaden horizons, having Gael become romantically involved with Isabella, as the two are due to have a child together, and introducing Joaquin and Luca as new additions as of the fourth season.
Sadly, Good Trouble lost Callie when Maia Mitchell stepped down as a series regular early in the fourth season. To explain Callie’s exit, the series gave Callie the job she always wanted but with the twist that it was in Washington D.C. Although Callie has appeared in a video chat with Mariana, the series found its footing in moving forward without one of its most central characters.
Mariana and the rest of her friends still lead Good Trouble through various social issues and discussions, including housing for the unhoused, the pursuits of the tech industry, the question of identity, and much more.
Whether it be a political discussion, romantic drama, self-discovery, or the trials and tribulations of life, Good Trouble thrives in storytelling surrounding serious topics and creating layered characters who go through them.
But, if the severe topics are not what draws in the audience, then the developed chosen family element of the Coterie likely plays a significant role in what makes the show so exciting and genuine to viewers.
As Good Trouble continues into its fifth season, the show will have more opportunities to tell unique stories, develop the characters and relationships, and create an environment that allows the viewers to listen in on important conversation topics.
Good Trouble airs Thursdays on Freeform at 10/9c.
