Maia Mitchell is officially leaving Good Trouble, and “Kiss Me and Smile for Me” spends its time saying goodbye to Callie Adams Foster. Callie was first introduced as a troubled delinquent fresh out of juvie and wanting to reunite with her younger brother Jude on The Fosters.

Over time, Callie transformed, growing up and inserting herself into numerous troubling and dangerous situations as well as forming strong and emotional bonds with Stef, Lena, and the rest of the Adams Foster siblings.

Finally, however, all of it cumulated into creating the person she was at the beginning of Good Trouble. As Good Trouble began, Callie set off on a journey to become a lawyer in Los Angeles, taking on a new environment with Mariana by her side.

However, with Maia Mitchell exiting the series, Good Trouble needed to create a solid conclusion for Callie, which in this case, resulted in closing one chapter of her story and starting the pages of the next.

Ever since moving to Los Angeles, Callie has jumped from one job to the next, struggling to find the right fit that reminds her of why Callie wanted to be a lawyer in the first place. But, as Callie prepares to leave, she reveals she has finally gotten her dream job, but it does come with a massive twist.

Callie’s dream job at the ACLU is an offer she will not pass up. However, it requires moving to Washington D.C. To break the news to Mariana, Callie calls in Stef, Lena, and Jude to help soften the blow of Callie’s big move. Jude’s loud announcement during the Coterie family dinner means that everyone learns of Callie’s significant life change.

“Kiss Me and Smile for Me” spends its time afterward having Callie spend one-on-one time with many of the Coterie members reminiscing on their shared past while saying goodbye.

Callie’s last moments with everyone are filled with emotional sendoffs as they all get their chance to say goodbye and get closure for the intensity of past relationships.

As Callie finally leaves Los Angeles behind, there is one last plot twist in store. Jamie will be joining her in Washington D.C., having gotten a job there also.

Good Trouble treats Maia Mitchell’s exit with respect while giving Callie Adams Foster the future she deserves. Callie will be stepping out on her own, away from the Adams Fosters and her Chosen Family members at the Coterie. Although in a vastly new environment, she will never be alone as all her loved ones will still be there for her.
