Good Trouble’s season 3 finale, “Closing Arguments,” concluded with several loose ends.  Will Mariana be a successful spy? What does Isaac’s return mean for Malika’s current relationships? Did Malika pick the right job? What does Callie leaving mean for her future? Who did Davia pick? What is Alice’s next step in the comedy world? Good Trouble’s season 3 finale has left fans wanting more.

Although “Closing Arguments” addresses many of the season’s biggest plot lines, many of them were left open-ended, and season 4 needs to address them all.

Tommy’s trial is cut off to show Callie’s inner struggle toward questioning her future as a lawyer. By doing so, Good Trouble has viewers waiting for the jury’s verdict toward Tommy and wondering what Callie’s next career move could be.

Callie has already had numerous jobs since the show’s beginning, so while Callie possibly leaving Kathleen’s firm would not be the first time Callie has changed jobs, something feels different and more definitive.

Callie and Mariana acknowledge Callie’s past on The Fosters and Good Trouble and how she usually picks the most difficult path. While Callie and Gael ending their romance conclude one of Callie’s more complicated storylines of the season, the idea that Callie could start making decisions differently is an exciting change of pace for a character who has always learned to adjust to obstacles.

Mariana has always been bright, but can she pull off spying? Her next storyline has her teamed up with her friends from Bulk Beauty to take down Revitalize Beauty. But, a last-minute plot twist shows that Evan is secretly working with Jackie. So, what does that mean for Mariana? Could Mariana’s future in tech be compromised by this?

Davia, whose big question revolved around the love triangle between herself, Dennis, and Matt, seems to have finally chosen what to do. However, since the Good Trouble season 3 finale chooses to leave this an open ending, it must be addressed in the coming season.

As for Malika, there are several open possibilities to come with her new job. Malika’s desire to continue in activism encourages her to choose to work alongside City Councilperson Lucia Morales. But, Isaac’s return adds another element of drama to Malika’s life as well.

Good Trouble’s season 3 finale, “Closing Arguments,” does give answers to some questions asked throughout the season, though.

Alice performs in the showcase alongside her comedy group, even though their performance happens differently than any of them had anticipated. But, as for her love life, while there is still a chance Alice and Sumi may reconcile a romance in the future, the season concludes with Alice choosing her own personal growth above the possibility of falling into old habits with Sumi.

Dennis finally found his passion and another use for his food truck. Remembering his personal experience as spending time in the hospital with his son, Dennis decided to bring meals to the parents who could not bear to leave.

As for Gael, wanting to be there for Isabella and the baby was something Gael knew he could not do part-time, and Gael could not split his time evenly between Isabella and Callie. So, Gael had to take a step back from his relationship with Callie.

These storylines have great potential to be expanded and have major involvements throughout the fourth season as well.

Good Trouble’s season 3 finale, “Closing Arguments,” had a lot going for it. Every important topic the season had been leading up to gets covered with the brilliant act of leaving fans wanting more as the season 3 finale has several open endings.

With so many unanswered questions but perfectly set up, season 4 has a lot of work to do and answers to give when Good Trouble returns.
