Paramount+ picks up iCarly reboot for season 3
By Alex Mcewen
Fans of the iCarly reboot on Parmount+ can rejoice as the streaming service has picked up the series for season three, which is coming sometime next year in 2023. The season two finale teased one of the plot lines dating back to the original Nickelodeon series. Will Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) and Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress) finally end up together? The show getting green-lit for season three could give fans the answer they have been waiting for over a decade.
At this time it is unclear because it has yet to be announced when the show will begin hitting the platform, but spring or summer seems like a safe bet judging by other educated guesses.
Another thing fans can get excited about from the season three teaser released by the streaming platform. It can be seen Josh Peck will reprise his guest starring role as Carly’s manager Paul. Cosgrove and Peck along with Trainor all starred alongside one another on Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh. However, in those days it was Trainor who had the guest starring role. It is fun to see how their roles were reversed over the years. With a Drake and Josh reboot almost completely out of the question, this trio being together on the iCarly reboot will have to suffice.
About the show iCarly
Despite the original show airing on Nickelodeon, the reboot is not for young kids, it is blatantly geared toward an older audience. Which is now the kids and teens who used to watch it all those years ago, the writers and producers did a good job of having such awareness and executing nicely. This is greatly appreciated by the show’s now adult audience.
In today’s media getting a second season is a huge accomplishment, a third season qualifies as a smash hit. Considering the iCarly reboot was one of Paramount+’s first original series and it is such a success it appears the platform could have more coming in due time.
