Bet On It by Jodie Slaughter was released on July 12th, 2022 but if you’ve read it and want more, All Things Burn might be for you

.Another week, another growing TBR to manage. As book lovers, I’m sure all of us know the struggle of seeing a new book we just have to read or a cover you just can’t look away from.

Regardless of your reason for picking up a book, it’s always good to be reading. One reason someone might pick up a book is that it’s an author they’ve recently discovered or is an author they’ve come to love and want to read their entire backlist.

That’s why this week’s “#TBRTrending” pick was so easy as it’s featuring an author who already has a decent-sized backlist. Considering that the entire purpose of this series is to try and increase your TBR, this book seems especially fitting as it’s by Jodie Slaughter who recently released a new book.

All Things Burn by Jodie Slaughter is the ultimate dark romance for your TBR.

As previously mentioned, Jodie Slaughter recently had her first traditionally published book which is awesome. As someone who has read all of her books, I’m so happy for her but her indie-published books are worth mentioning as well.

In particular, All Things Burn is Jodie Slaughter’s foray into dark romance. This is a romance between a woman and a hitman who she hires to deal with her ex-boyfriend turned stalker. If you have any reservations about that concept or murder on the page, then this one isn’t for you.

Regardless, All Things Burn doesn’t shy away from tough topics as Callum is a hit man while Halle works at a women’s center, helping those in difficult situations. Despite the darker themes, the romance at the heart of this story is impossible not to root for and the way that Jodie Slaughter writes tense situations is just magnificent.

This book is incredibly fast-paced and has lots of action. It’s miles different from anything else that Jodie Slaughter has published but it just proves how versatile she is as a writer. Regardless of this being a dark book, you’ll want to root for Halle and Callum to get their happily-ever-after which is truly a testament to a great romance.

Personally, I don’t want to give away too much as this book is relatively short as it’s less than 300 pages and has less than 600 ratings on Goodreads. If you’re subscribed to Kindle Unlimited, then you need to borrow this and read it. If not, then it’s only $2.99 on Kindle if you have a little extra.

Either way, if you like Jodie Slaughter’s traditionally published book, this is the next book you should pick up. You never know as Jodie Slaughter might surprise you.
