To Be Read lists can be multiple things for a book lover. For some, it’s a cultivated guide to aid the reading and for others, it’s an unending list of books you’ll never end up reading. For some though, a TBR is an answer to their prayers.

As a reader, particularly of romance books, it’s only right to talk about some books that deserve some more love. This brings up the newest series in the Culturess book section and that’s #TBRTrending. While most people are looking to Booktok for recommendations, this takes things a different route.

Rather than focusing on just new releases, this is going to be a weekly post in which I featured a book that deserves a bit more love. Essentially, the name comes from the fact that you’re adding a new book to TBR and thus, your TBR is trending upward.

To kick off July though, it would only be right to talk about a recent release and one deserving of a lot more love than it’s getting.

#TBRTrending begins with A Caribbean Heiress in Paris by Adriana Herrera.

The first book being featured is actually a May 31st release and that’s A Caribbean Heiress in Paris by Adriana Herrera. While Adriana Herrera has an extensive backlist, this is her first full-length historical romance novel, and what a perfect way for her to kick off her foray into this genre.

For those who don’t know, Herrera has short stories featured in the Duke I’d Like To F and Rake I’d Like To F series which are historical romances. However, A Caribbean Heiress in Paris is something completely different as it focuses on Luz who recently lost her father but has to keep the family business afloat.

What’s the family business? You might ask, it’s rum, and being a woman of color in the 19th century doesn’t exactly help matters. However, Luz meets Evan, a Scottish Earl who at first, annoying, ends up being the solution to all of her problems. See if Luz gets married, she gets access to her trust fund.

Featuring a lush and vivid setting, A Caribbean Heiress in Paris is the perfect book for a hot summer day when you just want to fall into an entirely different world. The setting is great, but so are the romance, the plot, and the side characters. Considering that this is the first book in a series, the side characters play a significant role here.

With just over 500 ratings on Goodreads, this book is the best way to trend your TBR upward. If you’re a romance lover, you’ll enjoy it. If you’re into history, you’ll learn something and if you love both, you’re in luck.
