In episode 6 of Roswell New Mexico‘s final season, it was all about the shocks! Or at the very least, the big moments and moves.

In an episode titled “Kiss from a Rose,” is it any wonder that we got a life-altering kiss, a shocking (not to us at least) revelation, and even a sickness that might prove to be irreversible. Not only is Michael sick and missing his abilities, but we have Bonnie tasked with actually killing Michael.

Oh yeah, and it turns out that Michael’s gift seems to be gone thanks to that unexpected kiss from Bonnie a few episodes back. And once Max learned about Bonnie’s ability to kiss away alien powers, it looked like he might have just figured out the way to “control” his abilities.

But before we even get to Max and his stubbornness, let’s talk about Kyle Valenti. Down in Mexico, Kyle and Isobel got down and dirty and it is now the morning after. Not only did we get some awkward moments, but it led to Isobel basically running away. However, that didn’t happen before Kyle did what we have been hoping he would do for a long time now. He admitted his feelings for her.

The men of Roswell are making decisions that may just be life-altering.

We have seen some romantic moments on Roswell, but there was something about Kyle telling Isobel that he was terrified of her that really had us in our feelings. Why? Because it wasn’t so much that Kyle is truly scared of Isobel, but rather that there are so many things that make her this amazing and strong individual that he loves. And when he tells her that he is in love with her, it was a beautiful, if slightly heartbreaking moment.

Isobel doesn’t want to lose Kyle. She loves him too, but at this moment that love isn’t necessarily the love that he needs/wants. It is a moment that hurts in a lot of ways, but it also opened the door for these two to maybe find their way to each other. Of course, there are a lot of things left to do before that could even happen. In particular, we are talking about stopping Teska and whatever Jones set into motion before our Roswell crew shut him down for good.

So while love is on hold for these two, we need to talk about Max and Liz. Max loves Liz desperately. And with his powers seemingly growing without him being able to control them, he does something that was life-changing. He asked Bonnie to give him the same kiss that took away Michael’s gift. But he did it without talking to anyone else, including Liz.

Perhaps it is just me, but maybe don’t decide that without talking to the person you are supposedly saving. And maybe don’t take away the gifts that you might need to keep everyone alive when there are still alien plans in place that could cause massive devastation. Max has no clue what is coming next and instead of using Bonnie as a last resort when things are safer, he went ahead and had his powers stripped from him before things have been solved.

If ever there was a moment to both feel for Max and want to shake him like a rattle, this might just be it. We get that he was trying to do what he thought was right for his relationship with Liz, but at the same time, now is not the time to be destroying whatever advantage you may have had against an enemy.

A lot went down in this episode of Roswell, but at this point, we can’t even imagine the repercussions of all that went down with Kyle, Max, and even Bonnie.
