July is a slightly boring month with only really one holiday of note. That’s why it’s fun to celebrate Christmas in July and what better way to celebrate than reading some romance books?

Regardless of how you chose to celebrate, Christmas in July is all about having fun. For those who don’t know, the tradition actually began in 1933. It was celebrated for the first time at summer camp and it eventually spread to the rest of the United States. Since then, Christmas in July has been a mainstay within the swell of summer.

For some, Christmas in July spans all month. However, the official date is said to be July 12th as that’s the official halfway point until Christmas. Regardless, you can celebrate all month in whatever fashion you chose. Personally, it’s the perfect time to dive into some Christmas-themed romance books.

While it can be a bit off-putting to read some Christmas romances during July, you might end up enjoying yourself more than you think so let’s get into some recommendations.

These five Christmas romance books are perfect for Christmas in July.

Before getting into the recommendations, almost all of these books are steamy. If you’re not into reading “open-door” romance books, then these won’t be for you. If you don’t mind a little bit of steam, then you’ll probably enjoy all of these.

The first recommendation is The Mistletoe Motive by Chloe Liese. This is actually a Kobo original and it follows two bookshop workers who face off to try and keep their jobs. This book is a delight as it’s grumpy-sunshine with some hidden identity moments and just lots of fun and ridiculous moments. Plus it features an autistic heroine and a hero who has Type 1 Diabetes so what more could you ask for?

Another relatively low-steam romance is A Second Chance Road-Trip for Christmas by Jackie Lau. As evidenced by the title, this is a second-chance romance between Greg and Tasha who broke up before college and then are thrust together for the holidays. As many books go, they end up stranded in a hotel room with only one bed and things go on from there. Similar to most of Jackie Lau’s books, this is pretty low-angst but super cute.

Moving onto the steamier side of things, the first book is Stocking Stuffers by Erin McLellan which is book 1 in her So Over the Holidays series. This is a romance between Sasha, a sex-toy salesperson, and Perry who is the brother of the inn owner where Sasha is staying. This book is incredibly steamy yet never loses the Christmas cheer.

Next up is a majorly steamy read and that’s Gifting Me To His Best Friend by Katee Robert. If you’ve read Katee Robert before, you know that she brings the steam. In this book, Grayson decides to “gift” Emma to his best friend, Derek. Of course, it ends up being incredibly steamy and has such a solid happily-ever-after for all of the characters involved. This book is scorching so make sure you read this one in the pool.

The last book you should read for Christmas in July is Being Merry by Meka James. This is another grumpy-sunshine story between two women who end up being roommates. One hates Christmas while the other loves it and the tension is just delicious. This is another short read, but it brings all of the Christmas cheer and sexy moments romance readers crave.
