Xbox’s Games with Gold continues to cycle through its new offerings of games each and every month. Even with Sony’s newly revamped PlayStation Plus launching this month, nothing can slow down Microsoft’s four free games of varying quality.

  • Aven Colony, June 1 to 30
  • Project Highrise: Architect’s Edition, June 16 to July 15
  • Super Meat Boy, June 1 to 15
  • Raskulls, June 16 to 30

June highlights for Xbox Games with Gold members

Aven Colony is a good game to curl up on a couch and play. It’s a city-building game that lets you control every aspect of the building, from infrastructure to the well-being of your inhabitants. You can also explore the strange world of Aven Prime to find out more and figure out the best way to prepare for the oncoming winter. Change the difficulty to whatever suits your gaming needs.

Project Highrise: Architect’s Edition offers a 2D tower-building game where you manage skyscrapers instead of a civilization. You can choose two fun modes, either sandbox, where you can build wherever and whatever, or play through the campaign mode, which is 29 different scenarios.

Super Meat Boy may be a repeat offering, but that doesn’t make it any less fun or frustrating to play. It’s honestly one of the most frustrating, most challenging precision platformers. The retro art style is still top-notch, and this version has the original score. Play as a blob of meat trying to save your damsel in distress, which sounds oddly familiar.

Lastly is Raskulls, a side-scrolling action platformer with over 60 levels to play through. There truly isn’t that much to this game. The single-player campaign offers some fun puzzles in its levels, but the multiplayer is a little more fun to play with friends, especially when you’re trying to beat each other’s high scores, either through couch co-op or online.
