What’s new in April 2022 for PlayStation Plus members
PlayStation announced the revamped version of the PlayStation Plus arriving in June. But that doesn’t stop the two free games each month until it changes. The lowest tier (PlayStation Plus Essential) will keep this subscription service the same for the same price.
So without further ado, below are your free games for April 2022:
- Hood: Outlaws & Legends
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated
- Slay the Spire
Breaking down PlayStation Plus’s April benefits
Hood: Outlaws and Legends is very heavily based on Robin Hood, but it doesn’t have much of a plot, which means it feels like there’s not a lot of content. It’s a multiplayer action-adventure game where you compete against other players online to collect the most gold with three different phases for each round. It’s nothing special, and unfortunately not enough people continue to play it, so you’ll most likely play the PVE mode if you check this one out.
It seems strange that last month, Xbox Games with Gold offered a SpongeBob game, and now we’re getting one with the PS Plus. This month, we get SpongeBob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, which is a revamped version of the classic 3D platformer. You must stop Plankton from taking over Bikini Bottom with his robots. It doesn’t change much about the 2003 original aside from adding a new mode and a few cut levels. Still, it’s a solid platformer that will bring in the nostalgia feels.
Last up is Slay the Spire, which is a fantasy deckbuilding adventure that combines a card game with a roguelike progression. It also plays a bit like a dungeon crawler, too, and it’s truly a very unique game to play.
You have your choice of a basic deck to start with and slowly make your way up the spire. If you have a good run and make it to the top, it takes about an hour, and you’ll start the whole thing over again with a new set of tips and tricks at your disposal. This should be your go-to download for this month’s games.
