Youtube is home to many popular trends. But would you expect the most popular video on the platform to be a video for toddlers? “Baby Shark” has officially reached 10 billion views and solidifies its place as the most-watched video on Youtube. Here are some of the most-watched videos on Youtube.

“Baby Shark” was first developed in 2016 and became a hit in Asia. It then crossed over to the United States and became a hit in 2019. Since then, it’s become a Nickelodeon tv show, a cereal, and become a cultural phenomenon. While it reached the number one spot as the most-watched video on Youtube back in November 2020, it just reached the 10 billion mark.

With its earworm melody and easy-to-follow dance moves, it’s quick to realize why it’s where it’s at on the list.

After it is “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee and Justin Beiber follows. Even though the song is in Spanish, the song was just as powerful in its rich melody that takes any listen in. While the song has Justin Bieber singing Spanish for the first time and it was something that got attention from the start, it also was a song that was putting Spanish music on the map again. While “Despacito” might have a larger reach than “Baby Shark”, both have left as equal of an impact on pop culture.

On the third spot is “Johny Johny Yes Papa” by LooLoo Papa. The song is a newer nursery rhyme about a child who is caught by his father eating sugar. While it is based on a 1989 book and usually sang to the tune of  “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star'” it is getting much more prominence today.
