We’re almost to the end of the story for A Discovery of Witches. The magical journey of Dr. Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer) and Matthew de Clermont (Matthew Goode) concludes next month with the airing of the final episode. Fans that have followed from the beginning, starting with the novels written by Deborah Harkness, already know the ending, but for those fans who’ve only seen the series, they’re still waiting for a resolution. And they’re dreading it because as the story wraps so does the final chapter of this amazing series.

Each actor has already said their goodbyes to their characters as filming has already wrapped. But that doesn’t mean we have absolutely no possibility of seeing them again. In fact, in an interview with Collider, Teresa Palmer said she would be open to returning as Dr. Diana Bishop either in a spin-off of the series on in a continuation of it.

Though Palmer thinks A Discovery of Witches came to a “beautiful conclusion,” she would love to see Diana as a mother. And though Diana’s story has come to “an organic end,” she feels like there’s always room for more.

"That we are stronger together is one of the main themes of this show. So, I would certainly be open to it. I would just have to read the scripts and see what’s happening."

Because of the nature of television, all of the information provided in the books couldn’t be covered so it would be great to see an expansion on her relationship with Matthew, and fans certainly wouldn’t say no to seeing her and her husband raising de Clermont children.

Diana was a rich, complicated character that Palmer brought to life so perfectly that we couldn’t imagine anyone else playing the role. We don’t want to say goodbye to her. So if there’s even the slightest chance the door isn’t completely closed, we’ll take it. And we hope the producers of A Discovery of Witches find a way to bring Diana, Matthew, and all of these wonderfully diverse characters back.
