All American: Homecoming trailer released

In 2022, the CW Network will officially incorporate All American: Homecoming into its schedule. The spinoff’s backdoor pilot aired as a part of the All American season, showing Simone visiting Bringston University and unexpectedly coming to love the school and what it could mean for a future career playing tennis.

However, the new series’ trailer shows more than tennis occurring at Bringston. Although Simone and Jordan seemed dedicated to their relationship in “Show Me a Good Time,” All American: Homecoming may throw a wrench into things given Simone’s connection with Damon Sims, another athlete at Bringston University.

The trailer already hints at the long-distance struggles Simone and Jordan may face when their only communication can be over facetime. Meanwhile, with Damon sharing a dorm building with her, proximity may be critical in how things unravel for Simone’s romantic life. However, romance struggles are not the only thing All American: Homecoming brings to the table.

College means new friendships, experiences, and in the case of this spinoff, focussing on new sports.

All American spends most of their sports storylines on football. However, All American: Homecoming will be dividing its time between Simone’s tennis journey and Damon’s baseball dreams.

Simone’s interest in tennis has been teased on All American, but there has not been much time dedicated to that story. But, with Simone leading All American: Homecoming, there should be a surplus of time to devote to Simone’s tennis training.

As for Damon, he already has immense pressure going into the season, and it is unlikely to calm down quickly.

All American has succeeded at creating beloved characters and telling in-depth emotional stories. Now, the spinoff has the chance to do the same.

Creating a college environment with primarily new characters allows Simone to grow in ways she has not gotten the chance to on All American. In addition, as the central character, she is now front and center of the show’s events, allowing her to form unique dynamics with many other people.

All American: Homecoming premieres on Monday, February 21.
