Did FOX’s The Big Leap end season 1 with closure or a cliffhanger? “We Make Our Own Light” is surrounded by panic and drama as the reality show cast members rush around trying to put on a show in the dark. Although the lights eventually come on, that is not the end of the group’s worries. Luckily, the show concludes many of its big questions by its ending.

Through all the drama occurring throughout the season 1 finale, “We Make Our Own Light” still finds the time to reveal the fate of some of the show’s most significant romances. Justin and Simon, who had broken up right before their performance began, get back together before the night is over. Gabby and Reggie reunite after a grand gesture on stage in front of excited and cheering fans.

Although The Big Leap teased a possible love triangle for Julia between her husband Kevin and her new love interest, Linus, it seems both would remain dead ends. Julia and Kevin accept their marriage has come to an end. As for Linus, Julia did not seem thrilled by his physical altercation with Kevin, so it appears that avenue may be over too. Still, Julia concludes the season by deciding to focus on her daughters and even invites Raven to join them in Tokyo.

Considering where Julia and Raven’s relationship began at the season’s start, this proves the massive growth and development the duo have had in their friendship.

While still grieving Paula, Mike performs as images and videos of her play on the screen behind him. But, he is not alone. Mike is surprised to find the children Paula had volunteered with have joined him in the dance. Later on, Mike even discovers that Paula had left him everything.

Of all the relationships and stories that had not been wrapped up, Brittney is front and center of one of the show’s biggest cliffhangers. She is pregnant with her and Reggie’s child, which would likely play a role in The Big Leap’s second season. However, Brittney knows that once the secret is revealed, she will again be the villain in Gabby’s life, especially considering Gabby and Reggie’s very recent reconciliation.

As “We Make Our Own Light” ends its final minutes, it also solidifies a future job for Gabby. Nick offers Gabby a choreographer position if their show gets picked up for season 2.

The Big Leap teases big things for a second season. But, even if that is not the case, the season 1 finale gives enough closure to the main characters that is satisfying enough. For those who used the dance reality show as a way to gain a second chance, they have excelled.
