Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes just achieved a milestone. And it wasn’t when they broke millions of hearts after announcing their breakup. They achieved a new milestone after being the first male and female duet to have a single reach of two billion streams on Spotify. Their single “Señorita” is the first to achieve the milestone. Although the pair is no longer a couple, they can still make music together in the future. But with many singles with male and female duets, what other pop duets should reach such a prestigious milestone?

Male and female duets that deserve more recognition

When Rihanna released her eighth studio album “Anti” in 2016, it was spearheaded by the single “Work”. The single featured Drake. The song reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Although it was not unknown to Rihanna singles, it became Rihanna’s fourteenth number-one single. It made her the fourth person to achieve this. It currently has about 1.4 billion streams. With Rihanna currently being out of the music scene for quite some time now, it is the duet performed by a male and female that deserve to reach the milestone.

After this monumental duet comes “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5 and Cardi B. The song came in 2018 at the high of Cardi B’s success. While it can be argued that the mix of genres between Maroon 5’s pop and Cardi B’s hip-hop made was what made it a success, it spent seven weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart on the number one spot. This became Maroon 5’s fourth hit single and Cardi B’s third. With it, Cardi B stayed with the record of most number-ones among female rappers. As of now, it has one billion streams. It would be the perfect song to reach the 2 billion stream milestone next.
