Poster drops for The Matrix Resurrections and Neo is center stage
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen the crew from the Matrix series, but many of us Matrix fans have been looking forward to seeing them again. Keanu Reeves is returning as Neo while Carrie-Ann Moss is back as Trinity. Another returning familiar face is Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe. The rest of the cast is new but spectacular with Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Ricci, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II to name a few. And, thanks to The Matrix Resurrections Twitter account @TheMatrixMovie, we can now see a first look at the ever-cool Neo front in center on the official movie poster.
First-look images of The Matrix Resurrections have already debuted
Back at the beginning of the month, Screerant shared a first-look image of Neo and Trinity standing close to one another with his hand on her arm. While the relationship they’d established in the preceding movies might not be the same, it’s clear the two have the same level of concern they’ve always had for the world.
Back in October, @TheMatrixMovie shared a simple poster of two pills—one red and one blue with an intriguing caption:
"Now, based on real events. The Choice is Yours."
This movie has been a long time in the making, and while fans are excited, they’re equally concerned about a new introduction into what was a trilogy. Sometimes, it’s best to leave well enough alone, but the first looks and video teasers have given fans hope for what might well be the best Matrix movie ever. ‘
Last month, Screenrant also shared the plot of the story, taken from the September 9th trailer.
"The Matrix Resurrections picks up 20 years after the events of The Matrix Revolutions and finds Neo living a normal life in San Francisco once again under the name of Thomas A. Anderson, who regularly sees a therapist prescribing blue pills. One day, Anderson runs into Trinity, though neither recognize one another, and shortly thereafter is reunited with Morpheus, offering him a red pill and a chance to open his eyes to the truth about The Matrix."
As the official movie poster says, we’re ready to “return to the source” on December 22nd in theaters and on HBO Max.
The Matrix Resurrections is coming to theaters on December 22, 2021.
