Pokemon and Oreo are collaborating in the most unexpected way
Pokemon has been in the news as of late with cards going up in value and movies being created again. Now, the newest namesake has been a collaboration with Oreo. Yes – fans of the popular series and regular people can get a taste of one of the most popular anime series by looking for one of the packs of the Oreo x Pokemon collaboration cookies. This is what you need to know about the collaboration.
The strangest Pokemon creation as of yet.
The curiosity and attraction of the collaboration is not the flavor but that each cookie is embossed with one of sixteen Pokemon characters. Each pack of Oreo cookies includes a random variation of characters and just like the cards, encourages fans to find all sixteen characters with the rarest being the mythical Mew. However, the craze with Pokemon has existed since the 90s. This collaboration is just an addition to the long existing craze.
But, because the cookies are as limited as the cards, they are being sold on Ebay with prices ranging from $50 to $100,000. While packs usually sells for $4, NPR reported that one pack sold on Ebay for about $1,200. Even though the collection just launched last month, many locations are already running out.
With the actual cards selling at over $200,000, who knows how long Oreo can sell the Pokemon branded cookies. Although I am personally not the biggest fan of the anime series, I love the nostalgia factor of them. And with Pokemon becoming bigger as time passes by, this may only be the beginning of something bigger for both brands.
What do you think about this collaboration? Will you look for these Oreo cookies at the store? Sound off in the comments. Let us know what you think about the news adventure for Pokemon!
