The adorable and metal-loving red panda, Aggretsuko, will be rocking back to Netflix for the fourth season.  In case you’re wondering who-or-what Aggretsuko is, it’s a Japanese anime based on the Sanrio character Retsuko, a 25-year old, and her daily musings of work-life, personal life, and screaming karaoke metal.  The anime was depicted as innocent at first but went down a darker avenue in the third season.

During Netflix’s first-ever Tudum event this past Sunday longly awaited news for the fourth season of Fanworks’ Aggretsuko were revealed, including a brand new poster with several favorite characters and the release month.  Fans are excited to see the continuation of the season three finale, as well as getting new content and a storyline.

The latest installment will air sometime in December, nearly a year-and-a-half later than season three.  The poster is featured below in a tweet released by Aggretsuko’s official account.

Aggretsuko Season four: What we know so far.

Season four will pick up right where the season three finale concluded.  After living the idol life for a while to pay off debts, and nearly getting killed, Retsuko goes back to her familiar routine of being an accountant. It is not the most luxurious lifestyle, but one she can feel valued, despite her bosses’ heavy demands.

Furthermore, the relationship between Retsuko and her male coworker, Haida will also be highlighted.  Whether a romance between the two will blossom or continue as friends is yet to be determined, but based on what happened between the two during the last episode is an open interpretation.

After he saves her life following the fan-crazed attack, and getting her out of her isolation, it will be an interesting point of events if the writers choose to go the mutual route.  The Retsuko x Haida ship is the most popular one on the series and fans are more than curious to see further development.

Inside the office life, a new director by the name of Himoro comes in after the current one falls ill and he may just shake things up with his employees.  Or he could be a nice guy who is trying to keep the company afloat.

Lastly, the success of Aggretsuko is attributed to real-life scenarios of the workforce and how one stresses with everyday life and struggles.  For the many, one often sees themself placed in a similar situation like Retsuko’s and to see it onscreen despite that it is animation is a comfort.

The first three seasons are available on Netflix to stream and catch up.
