Look, we can all agree that Summer 2021 didn’t exactly live up to our customer satisfaction standards. From the utter collapse of the dream that was Hot Vax Summer into a Delta variant-fueled nightmare, rising COVID cases across the country put a crimp in a lot of our summer plans. So, goodbye summer! Good riddance! It’s officially September, and time for all the goodness that comes with Fall from crisp air and cozy sweaters to pumpkin spice lattes and the positive deluge of great books hitting shelves this month.

As you might have already guessed from our Fall YA and science fiction/fantasy preview lists, there is an embarrassing number of books arriving in September 2021. Fall is traditionally a big deal for publishing, as the industry lines up the big releases they think will garner buzz heading into the all-important Christmas shopping season. (It’s never too early to buy your friends books, folks!)

This month has new titles arriving from popular authors like Erin Hahn (Never Saw You Coming), Adrienne Young (The Last Legacy), and Kendare Blake (All These Bodies). There are also buzzy debuts from Sarah Hollowell (A Dark and Starless Forest) and the launch of a new series meant to remix classic stories from literature by up-and-coming YA voices. There’s so much to dig into, it’s best to just jump right in.
