It’s official: Season 2 of the charming Netflix teen comedy Never Have I Ever will premiere on July 15.

This coming-of-age dramedy follows the life of Devi Viswakumar, played by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, a first-generation Indian American who is trying to win at high school. She is a high-achieving student with a hothead streak that strives to be the smartest, most popular, and most desirable person at her school.

A colorful, upbeat Instagram video featuring the cast announced the premiere news and revealed the season 2 trailer will premiere this Thursday, June 17 at 8 pm PT. That same night, the series’ cast and creators will be hosting a live stream on YouTube and TikTok to celebrate, complete with a fan Q&A, games, and teaser clips.

The Season 1 finale had a satisfying ending. Devi reconciled with her mother, Nalini, after a huge fight, which surrounded the family moving to India. She was going to skip spreading her father’s ashes with her mom, but with the help of Ben, her former nemesis, and her friends, she was able to find the strength to forgive her mom and face her father’s death. Devi kissed Ben, who was waiting for Devi in his car.

While this was happening, Paxton, Devi’s crush and the designated heartthrob of the show, was knocking outside her door. We can assume it’s to apologize for blowing her off and to possibly start a romance. In the Instagram announcement of the new season, there is a clip of Devi standing between Paxton and Ben with both boys whispering in her ears. Is a love triangle in the works?

In Season 2, we will also be introduced to new characters. A new Indian student named Aneesa is coming to Sherman Oaks High, and Devi finds her beauty and confidence to be a threat. Aneesa is played by Megan Suri, who can also be seen on Atypical and Fresh Off The Boat.

Common also joins the season 2 cast as Dr. Chris Jackson, a new dermatologist in Nalini’s building. (Nalina, played by Poorna Jagannathan, is not a fan of his glitz and glam celebrity practice.) And American Vandal star Tyler Alvarez will also be joining the cast as someone from Devi’s past.

Maitreyi has high hopes for her character this season. In an interview with Variety’s Angelique Jackson, Jackson asked the lead actress if she is Team Ben or Team Paxton. Maitreyi simply says she is Team Devi.

She also mentioned the main things she wants for Devi this season: An appreciation for her friends and family; understanding her mom’s perspective, confronting her grief, and embracing her culture.

We hope to see Devi and friends thrive on July 15 when the new season of Never Have I Ever arrives on Netflix.
