As guests cross the bridge to the Jurassic World Velocicoaster at Universal Orlando, the track twists and turns all around. Even though the Wizarding World seems just a stone’s throw away, the fire illuminating the entrance beckons.

At first thought, the extreme thrill ride cannot be resisted. There is a calling, a desire, a willingness to step into that world, even if it will push riders to the limits.

As many people recall from the Jurassic World or Jurassic Park movies, there is always the question of “can” versus “should.” Sure, many people would like to step into an immersive experience where dinosaurs roam the world. But, bringing dinosaurs back from extinction has its caveats. That push/pull of should, could, would, why fills the mind.

In some ways, those same thoughts enter riders’ heads as they approach the entrance of the Jurassic World Velocicoaster. Can you handle that Top Hat? Could you really hang upside down over the water? Will you really outrun the raptors?

Universal Orlando experiences excel when they blend the thrill and the immersive. It is more than just taking those beloved movie moments off the screen and into the theme park world. It is about creating a moment that not only leaves a lasting impression but makes people want to come back time and again. Whether the anticipation begins on the ride to the park or the excitement wakes you up early in the resort hotel room, that feeling is feed with each and every Universal Orlando experience.

Those little details from start to finish make the Jurassic World Velocicoaster an epic, thrilling adventure. While roller coaster enthusiasts can parlay facts about launches, speeds, and extreme barrel rolls, the reality is that people want to have that “whoa” moment. This ride does that at every level.

Jurassic World Velocicoaster doesn’t put you on the edge of your seat, it lifts you out of the seat.

Some people crave the adrenaline rush of an extreme roller coaster and others prefer the less tall heights of a merry-go-round. Still, there are moments when stepping outside of the comfort zone is needed, warranted, or maybe pushed by some good friends.

Personally, my thrill ride preferences steer towards Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure but not quite to the extreme like Hulk. Fast, furious, and heart-pounding, but those upside maneuvers might be a little far outside the comfort zone. But, when the opportunity was presented to ride the Jurassic Park Velocicoaster, it could not be refused.

The experience begins as soon as you step into the area. As other rides plummet down the drop to the many raptors perched above, the chase is on. While riders might think it is about the thrill, those raptors are looking for dinner.

With encouragement from friends at Flick Direct, we rode the Velocicoaster together. As you can see from their point of view video, the coaster is pretty extreme (my vantage point was from the row behind them).

Since this ride is a double launch coaster; there are two times where you are propelled forward at extreme speeds. That burst might leave your stomach in the station, but the reality is that fast is only part of the equation. Everyone knows that cars go fast, this ride is more than furiously fast.

The reality is that this experience is all about the numerous maneuvers. While movie characters might encourage zigzag running to avoid being caught in the chase, the reality is that this track weaves, dips and dives all around. From going through canyons to hovering over the water, at some point you do not know which way is up or down.

For the coaster fans, they will happily line up to ride each row to determine the “perfect” location. While some people might check the ride off the to-do list and head back to their nice, sedate merry-go-round and wait for the kids at the end of the day.

Personally, the Jurassic World Velocicoaster stood as a challenge, became a ride that I conqueror and I look forward to riding it again. Granted, there will be an iced cold Isla Nubar IPA waiting for me to bring me back to earth afterward, but that thrill of the chase is one that proves irresistible.
