Fans are eager to see Poison Ivy join the DC Extended Universe in The Batman with Natalie Dormer being a favorite for the role and it’s easy to see why.

While we’ll likely never get to see the Synderverse restored, there is still a lot for DC Comics fans to look forward to in the upcoming years. From sequels to its many beloved films including Aquaman and Shazam! to new features including The Flash and Black Adam, the future is looking incredibly bright for the DC Extended Universe.

Then there is the upcoming relaunch of the Batman franchise from director Matt Reeves which DC is betting big on. Not only is a feature film in the works for 2022, but Warner Bros. is prepping an HBO Max original series set within the same universe of the film and has plans to turn the franchise into a trilogy of films.

If Reeves follows a roadmap similar to the Christopher Nolan films, it’s likely we’ll see a variety of iconic villains come into the fold as the foil to Robert Pattinson’s Batman. We already know that the first film in the franchise will look to introduce viewers to new iterations of The Riddler, Penguin and Catwoman, and there’s at least one other major villain fans are hoping to see: Poison Ivy.

Not since Uma Thurman played her in 1997’s Batman and Robin have we seen Poison Ivy on the big screen as part of a live-action DC feature film and it’s time for that to change. Ivy is one of the strongest villains in the DC Universe and would make for an incredible opponent for Batman in The Batman franchise if given the chance.

Should DC indeed look to bring Ivy into the fold, they’ll need an actress with a commanding presence. Perhaps it’s why Game of Thrones alum Natalie Dormer has emerged as a fan-favorite for the role.

What Natalie Dormer could look like as Poison Ivy in The Batman

Clearly inspired by the idea of Poison Ivy returning to the big screen, digital artist Jaxson Derr took to Instagram to give fans an idea of just what Natalie Dormer could look like in the role of Poison Ivy in The Batman — and we have to confess, we are obsessed with the concept art!

In the incredible art, Dormer is transformed into Ivy complete with the character’s signature red hair, ivy-colored skin and armored version of her classic costume. The concept seems to have been inspired by the look Ivy donned in Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy which is regarded as one of the character’s greatest costumes.

Dormer was absolutely phenomenal in the role of Margaery Tyrell and there is no denying she would deliver an equally flawless performance as Ivy if given the chance.

Will Natalie Dormer play Poison Ivy in the DCEU?

Currently, DC has not announced any plans to bring Poison Ivy into the DCEU and therefore it is unclear whether Natalie Dormer might be tapped to play her. That being said, if Margot Robbie gets her way Ivy should be coming to the DCEU soon and it shouldn’t be long after that casting gets underway.

As Robbie recently told Den of Geek:

"“They must be sick of hearing it, but I’m like, ‘Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy. Come on, let’s do it.’ I’m very keen to see a Harley-Poison Ivy relationship on screen. It’d be so fun. So I’ll keep pestering them. Don’t worry.”"

Hopefully, Warner Bros and DC will listen to Robbie’s pleas soon and bring the Poison Ivy into the fold as part of a future DCEU project. Should they choose to do so, let’s also hope that Natalie Dormer makes her way to the top of their list as there’s no denying she’d make for a perfect Ivy!
