LeVar Burton joined the cast of the Nancy Drew spin-off and we can’t wait for more Barclay

In the Nancy Drew episode “The Celestial Visitor,” we got our first look at Tom Swift, the leading man for the upcoming spin-off series. And during that episode, we also met (technically) Barclay, the AI assistant that Tom uses throughout the episode.

However, what makes Barclay so exciting for so many of us is the fact that he is voiced by none other than LeVar Burton! Whether you are fan of Burton’s because of his time on Star Trek: The Next Generation or because you grew up watching him on Reading Rainbow, he truly is an icon for many of us.

So when we learned that LeVar Burton would be joining the Nancy Drew spin-off courtesy of TV Line we were thrilled. And of course, we were hoping that he would pop up in the backdoor pilot for the series that took place during “The Celestial Visitor.” Thankfully we were not disappointed.

Not only did we get to see Tom Swift in action with the help of Nancy Drew and the rest of the Drew Crew, but we were also teased with some of what we can expect from LeVar Burton in the spin-off as well.

LeVar Burton is the perfect choice to voice Barclay in the Nancy Drew spin-off

Honestly, it was amazing hearing that familiar voice acting as a guide and support for Tom. It felt nostalgic in the very best ways and yet it was also fresh too.

After watching Tom Swift and Nancy Drew in action together, I can only hope that The CW makes the right choice and commits to the spin-off for real. Not only do we want to see more of Tian Richards as Tom, but we want more of LeVar Burton in any way we can get him.
