May is almost upon us, Culturess readers, and with it comes the third and final season of Pose. The show has been a revolutionary presence in the television landscape, telling deeply needed stories about Black and brown LGBTQ+ characters living and loving in the late ’80s and early ’90s New York City.

Season 3 will take viewers into the year 1994, detailing the change in ballroom culture in the wake of mass AIDS-related deaths, the disease that is the leading cause of demise for Americans 25 to 44 during this time.

Both Blanca and Pray Tell are trying to balance their health along with their responsibilities within their communities, their relationships, and the dreams they’re still reaching for. This includes dealing with a new house that’s threatening the House of Evangelista’s legacy within the ballroom world.

In celebration of Pose season 3’s premiere, a ball produced and hosted by the show’s runway choreographer Twiggy Pucci Garçon is being thrown virtually.

The Final Pose honors ball culture from the ’80s to the present

Entitled The Final Pose-An Exhibition Ball, this virtual event begins Sunday, May 2 at the stroke of 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST. The ball will take place ahead of the two-episode premiere of the show‘s final season at 10 p.m. EST on FX.

The ball is a celebration of the third season, but it’s also an event honoring ball culture starting in the ’80s and moving forward into the present.

This can’t-miss moment is open to all who wish to attend. The Final Pose will be live-streamed by FX and on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Ball attendees can expect to see exclusive messages from Pose talent, ballroom performances, guest judges, and more.

Think of this ball as a 90-minute love letter to a show that changed the face of TV for the better, honoring community, family, and love through storytelling and art. While Pose will be missed once the show takes its final bow, its legacy will live on and so will its impact.
