The Last Of Us casts Gabriel Luna as Pedro Pascal’s brother
The Last of Us series on HBO really seems to be ramping up its production efforts. Back in February, they announced the casting for Joel and Ellie, the two main characters of the video game franchise.
And now, we have another casting update! According to a report from Deadline, Gabriel Luna is slated to play Tommy, Joel’s brother.
Luna is most known for portraying Gabriel/REV-9 in Terminator: Dark Fate, and he was also Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider in Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. Robbie Reyes was a hit in the first part of season four and fans always hoped he’d make another cameo down the line.
Gabriel Luna seems pretty stoked about being cast, taking to Twitter to show his excitement:
Much like Pedro Pascal, Luna has shown that he can find that sweet balance between action and emotion and give us a compelling character. In The Last of Us game series, Tommy has his hopes and ideals pinned on a better and brighter world.
Tommy also isn’t in the first game for very long, only the first portion. But the creator of the series and executive producer for the show, Neil Druckmann, has said that the series will differ from its video game counterpart. So it would be nice to have Tommy hang around with Joel and Ellie for a little bit longer.
Everyone on the internet seems pretty stoked for this casting. Way more stoked than over the news that there might be a PS5 remake of The Last of Us in the works (which no one wants).
Still, we’re excited about the possibilities that this HBO series will bring. The Last of Us is a fantastic, beloved video game franchise, even with its divisive sequel that was released last year. Will we see more aspects of the virus-torn world and how humanity has crumbled? Will we see more of the Fireflies? How about that breathtaking giraffe scene?
The possibilities for The Last of Us are endless, and we can’t wait to see what the HBO series has in store.
