After a quick break to see the events of WandaVision unfold from SWORD’s perspective last week, fans head back to Westview during the latest episode of the Disney+ series.

During “A Very Special Episode,” Wanda and Vision are still learning how to parent. Of course, it doesn’t help that their kids can seemingly summon anything they want into their reality — or that they can jump from one age to the next. But hey, no one said this series was going to be conventional.

And strangely enough, the bizarre abilities of Wanda’s children aren’t even the major talking points from this week’s episode. There are some huge developments during the show’s latest chapter, some of which are sure to have major repercussions for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and some that may even force Wanda’s character to pivot from the Avenger we all know and love. (Well, more than she already has, that is.)

Of course, alongside the big revelations were the usual bizarre moments courtesy of Wanda’s strange reality. So what were some of the wackiest moments from this week’s episode of WandaVision?

The age-jumping

I mean, we can all agree that, while Wanda’s kids jumping from infants to toddlers to 10 years old is far from the biggest surprise this week, it’s still a little wacky, right?

Underscoring the strangeness of their ability to age up is the fact that Wanda and Vision essentially begin to expect it. It’s made into a joke as the two warn the boys against growing up to get a puppy or avoid their feelings. And while it’s hilarious, it’s also a bit jarring.

The real question is whether or not Wanda’s kids will exist — or have any special powers — outside of Westview. It’s already been confirmed that the boys weren’t taken from anywhere else, so either they’re from another reality entirely or Wanda actually brought two living people into existence using her powers alone. The latter has to have some sort of consequences.

Agnes’ awareness

“Now in Color” made it clear that the people trapped in Wanda’s reality know on some level what’s happening to them, even if they can’t do anything about it. That makes for a weird dynamic, and it’s one that’s on full display during Agnes’ brief appearances throughout this week’s episode.

Early on in “A Very Special Episode,” Agnes stops by and offers to soothe the crying twins. Mid-scene, things stop going as planned, and Agnes asks Wanda if they should “just take it from the top.” She quickly returns to her typical cheery nature, but it’s almost like Agnes glitched out for a moment.

Agnes is also completely apathetic to the fact that Wanda now uses her powers in front of her. And she said nothing about infants turning into toddlers right before her eyes. Something is definitely up with her behavior, and it’ll be interesting to see where her character goes from here.

Norm’s revelation

Fans are treated to another scene of Vision at work this week, but things get bizarre when Vision interrupts Norm’s cheesy email jokes and temporarily frees him from Wanda’s spell. The man quickly jumps from jovial to horrified, and he even reveals the disturbing fact that everyone under Wanda’s spell is in immense pain.

When Vision stops using his powers on him, Norm returns to his joke, making for a strange moment if there ever was one. It also leads to Vision’s certainty that Wanda is doing something wrong — though the poor guy still doesn’t have the full picture of what’s happened.

Relationship troubles

After his interaction with Norm, Vision returns home and confronts Wanda about what she’s doing. He still has no idea that he’s actually dead in Wanda’s original reality and that’s why all of this is happening. But he knows his wife has trapped the people of Westview using her powers, and he’s desperate to convince her to stop.

The two butt heads, and it almost looks as though they’re going to fight one another. The shift is a quick one, and it makes you wonder how much control Wanda actually has over Vision. Unfortunately, we don’t get the answer to that question, as the doorbell rings and brings yet another surprise…

The recasting

Although Wanda threatening SWORD and Vision realizing what Wanda is doing (sort of) are pretty major and wild moments, the craziest part of the episode has to be the very end. Anyone hoping for an MCU and X-Men crossover will be delighted when the doorbell rings and Evan Peters’ Quicksilver is waiting on the other side.

Jimmy Woo and Darcy refer to the event as a “recasting,” and it’s obvious Wanda has no idea who this version of Pietro is or why he’s arrived at her house. There are so many questions to answer about this development, starting with whether or not she inadvertently summoned him and ending with the possibility of getting the multiverse.

Waiting a week for a new episode is going to be rough.

A special shoutout

Wanda stealing Vision’s body in what might just be a premeditated act that led into the series was a mind-blowing development, and one that sets Wanda up as a possible Big Bad heading into Phase 5 of the MCU. That, alongside Wanda threatening SWORD, made for a fascinating and chilling addition to the series — and we have to shout both scenes out, even neither is what one might consider “wacky.”
