An America’s Most Wanted revival is underway at Fox
Crime-solving television series America’s Most Wanted is coming back to Fox 10 years after its 25th season. The show will stay true to its roots with the crime and fugitive reporting, along with keeping the audience on the lookout for suspects presented.
The new episodes will feature more advanced technology, digital suspect enhancements, and will utilize social media to connect with the show’s audience. Additionally, there will be professional consultations with law-enforcement agencies such as the FBI and the Secret Service.
During its1988-2011 run, America’s Most Wanted has captured over 1,100 fugitives and reunited over forty children with their families. Some of the fugitives were even highlighted on the FBI’s Most Wanted list.
In the original series, crime investigator John Walsh (he was also its creator) hosted AMW in remembrance of his son Adam Walsh, who was kidnapped and murdered in 1981. In the revival, former ABC news anchor, Elizabeth Vargas has been contracted as the new host. Fox stated in a press release regarding Vargas and the show itself:
"“AMERICA’S MOST WANTED empowered viewers to help America successfully capture some of its most dangerous fugitives,” said Wade. “By bringing back this groundbreaking series with new and effective tech-based crime-fighting tools and acclaimed journalist Elizabeth Vargas, we hope to continue John Walsh’s long-standing mission to be a powerful voice for crime victims everywhere.”"
“Capturing dangerous fugitives, bringing justice to victims and finding missing children is my lifetime’s work,” said John Walsh in his own statement. “I am so excited to hear AMERICA’S MOST WANTED is coming back and I support its return. God bless.”
In addition to Vargas, John Ferracane will serve as the showrunner and executive producer, with Jim Clemente, Tim Clemente, Glenn Geller, and James Bruce as executive producers.
America’s Most Wanted will broadcast on Fox beginning this March and will also be available on its streaming platform, Tubi, along with Hulu, Fox Now, and On Demand.
