Nancy Drew is back for Season 2 with a revelation

Nancy Drew is back on The CW and with the arrival of Season 2, things picked up where they left off – with a death curse coming for Nancy and her friends. And while the premiere episode might have given us a continuation of the first season, it also offered up a rather shocking revelation for Nancy.

Throughout the first season, we watched as Nancy Drew and her friends rushed into danger, sometimes without any thought for what they were doing, who might get hurt, or even how they might be causing even more harm than good. And Nancy was definitely leading the charge when it came to recklessness. In an effort to support their friend, George, Bess, Ace, and Ned always seem to be there backing her up and helping to save her from danger.

However, in the Season 2 premiere, it seems that Nancy finally got a bit of a wake-up call courtesy of Ace. As Ace pointed out as they found themselves in a haunted woods in the middle of the night, when it comes to putting herself in harm’s way, Nancy Drew rarely considers her friends who always seem to be there putting themselves in danger to save her bacon.

Nancy Drew realizes something about herself in the Season 2 premiere

While that was certainly a revelation for Nancy, as she was forced to take a hard look at herself, it was the moment on the abandoned bus as the wraith of the woods came for her and her friends that she really made the shocking revelation about herself. While facing her fears, Nancy came to the shocking realization that what she fears is herself and who she is becoming.

Considering Nancy is only now learning the truth of who her biological parents are and even the history that surrounds her family, it makes sense that she would be worried about what this means for herself. After all, her biological family is shrouded in scandal, murder, and betrayal. So it just makes sense that Nancy would be scared of becoming more like a Hudson than a Drew. And just because Ace made it clear to Nancy in the end that he doesn’t want her to sacrifice herself for him in an effort to prove she is not like the rest of the Hudson clan, that doesn’t mean that her fears are unfounded.

When it comes to big moments, seeing Nancy get vulnerable with herself was definitely an important one as we head into the second season. Nancy Drew has a lot to contend with right now – from her relationship with both her fathers (biological and adopted) to a death curse looking to be fulfilled, there is a lot on this amateur detective’s plate.

While the Season 2 premiere might be more of a continuation of the first season than a typical premiere, it gave us what we needed to start off a new season of mysteries, adventures, hauntings, and more.
