Sony is starting out 2021 strong for PlayStation Plus members. The offerings for January will makes PS Plus members incredibly happy

Did you just get a PlayStation Plus membership for Christmas? Or did someone renew your membership so you have another year of games? Or did you just treat yo self to more video games?

No matter what, PlayStation Plus members are in for such a treat for January. Sony’s pulling out all the fun stops to start off a brand new year, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Here are your free games for the month of January:

  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  • GreedFall
  • Maneater

Watch the official announcement trailer below:

First up, let’s talk about Maneater. This one is the PlayStation 5 exclusive, so it’s only free if you happen to have the latest console. If you have ever wanted to play as a shark that eats people, this game is absolutely for you. Eat your way up the ecosystem chain and evolve your shark character until you move well past what nature intended. It’s a ridiculous open world RPG that’s worth checking out.

For other PlayStation offerings, we have Shadow of the Tomb Raider. While it’s not the most beloved of the rebooted franchise games, it’s still a solid entry in the series with a 75 from critics and a 7.4 from users on Metacritic. This game wraps up Lara Croft’s journey by pitting her against the apocalypse and setting up her character for when we meet her in the original games. The puzzles in this game are outstanding.

Last up for January is GreedFall. If you’re in the mood for an old-school-feeling RPG, download this one right away. It feels like a good mix of The Witcher and Dragon Age games. Explore a remote island where you help defend the local population from invading settlers, and you get to pick which side you want to fight with. It’s got a standard gear system and crafting and really, if you’re a fan of any RPG, you’ll enjoy the heck out of this game.

All of the January games will be free to download for active PlayStation Plus memberships starting on January 5. And if you’re reading this before January 5 and have a PlayStation 5, you still have access to Bugsnax for free. Don’t miss playing this new iteration of Pokemon Snap!
